    Default Visiting Memphis

Hello, my wife and I are bikers from Arkansas. We'll be visiting Memphis later this month. Besides Beale St, what else do you recommend my wife and I see?
We're in or 50's/60's, travelling by car this time, not the bikes. We have 2 1/2 days to spend. The hotel is near the Memphis airport. We like interesting museums,
great BBQ, places that are unique to Memphis (but we're not into Elvis).

    Thanks!

Personally I wouldn't stay at a hotel near the airport. You'd do better to go towards east Memphis, Germantown, Collierville or downtown. Too many shady types in the airport area.

Bass Pro at the Pyramid is pretty cool. Gibson Guitars has a tour at their plant there. Sun Studios. The Peabody Ducks. The Pink Palace is also a good place to go. Tunica, MS has casinos if you are into that. Shelby Farms is the largest urban park in the country but might be pretty cold that time of year.

Best BBQ places are Central BBQ, Germantown Commissary. Everyone will say The Rendezvous & Corky's is the place to go but I feel it is more of a tourist trap than great BBQ.

I lived there most of my life until we bugged out to Florida. If it were me I'd be packing while in Memphis and keep your head on a swivel at all times.

Thank you for all of this information; very helpful.
Which of the places you recommend we stay overnight is closest to Beale St?

If you are going to Graceland, get to VIP tickets. Well worth the upgrade.

Be careful of the neighborhoods you go into.

The Peabody Hotel, The Westin and there is a Hampton Inn there all very close to Beal Street.
