    What I find amazing is a cup of coffee is $4 +, YIKES. I guess the days of a $.15 coffee and .49 bisquits and gravy gone!

    Steve, I take that discount wherever I can get it. Veteran's discount too. Unfortunately, I could not get a discount on my hip replacements or my shoulder surgery yesterday. When I asked, the admitting person looked at me like I had three heads.

    When you have NO insurance, you can get a discount on hospital charges if you pay them cash.
    This worked for me about five years ago when I had emergency gallbladder surgery. You must ask them and they will give you a lower figure. I saved in the five figures!

    I know it can be depressing, but you can always look at it this way, you could have paid .44 more. I always check for senior/military discounts, every little bit helps. Dale

    I don't get a senior discount unless I ask. They card me if I go to the liquor store or order a drink while out. Over 70 now.

    Occasionally some foolish waitron asks if I want the senior discount. I feign all sorts of hurt and embarrassment and finally offense to make it feel really bad. Then I say, "Of course."

    Of course, I leave a good tip.
