    Default Battery Replacement - CCA's

This is probably one of those topics like oil and tires that will raise all sorts of opinions... but, what should the minimum Cold Cranking Amps be for an RT when looking for a new battery?

I have a 2014 RTS, and have never had any issues with the battery, but approaching four years old, I think it prudent to consider a new battery in the spring.

I see a variety of the AGC (sealed) batteries from name-brand manufacturers, with an equal variety of listed CCA and prices!

Does anyone know what the OEM battery's tech-spec was for CCA's?

    Thanks

    Bob

Default Battery replacement on 2014 Rt

Go on line and shop, I saved $100.00 from what dealer wanted. Go ahead and order one you are going to need it soon. Can even put into the frunk till needed. It's any easy change out and any tools needed are under your 21014 RT Seat

That's what I've been doing... planning a spring trip and figured I would change it out before it gives me any trouble.

    Default There you have it....

350 CCA. Though during the many years of working on motorcycles, managing parts departments I have not found a better battery than the YUASA. Most used oem battery around. Remember these machines have a lot of electrical components with large loads and draws. My current battery is 6 years old with no issues (except when the kids leave the lights on) stick with the specs in the manual...

I still have mine ( 2014 RT ) that because I no longer trust it ( it wasn't charged properly when new **** ) .... I bought a Lithium jumper pack ... ( $45.00 on E-bay ) as my Back-up ..... because frankly no one can tell you for sure when your present battery is going to CRAP -out .... it could last another 4 years or more ..... $45 is well spent because it does lots of other things beside " just waiting to be used " .................jmho .... Question

Is the cca 350 cranking power? I saw some replacements showing 300. Does that make a difference?

50 less Cold cranking amps. So if your in a colder area that 50 A cold help with starting

most people don't ride in the colder temps anyway and put the Spyder in storage

That's the spec for the OEM (Yuasa) battery used in all spyder models since 2008.
