    Default Engine

Looks like a PWC watercraft engine to me. Just a guess.

Yep, that is a PWC motor. Look at the water pump.

It would be cool if they did put it in though.

    You guys crack me up!
A larger displacement engine (with more torque and horsepower) will require major revisions to the chassis and suspension, the VSS, the driveline...
You'll probably need to carry more fuel....... most likely it'll burn more also...

Why not wait until at least the 2018s are out; before starting up another "Silly Season"?

Ima, waitin, and Ima watching. 1600 is getting closer to that magic GW 1800.

For me, it would take at least that to get me re-interested in another new one. PS. I am still a very happy Spyder owner, just not going to upgrade to get the latest color.

    Default New Diesel Spyder

Rumor has it the new RTL will be a Diesel with a DEF system and a #10,000 hitch. It will be able to tow an RV but only the ones produced by BRP. The rear tire already has been specked out and a contract is expected soon on it from Kenda. The DEF system is to satisfy the emission standards here in the USA. It is expected to get 60-70 miles per gallon and will only use the Mobile 1 oil sold at Walmart. Seats will be made from only the finest hides from the King Ranch in Texas. No mirrors are expected to be placed on the new Diesel Spyder because it will be so fast you will never have to look back. Can't wait to get mine. Due out in early 2018.

I would think BRP would stay as close to the current design as possible. This simplifies their logistics over the long run. Introducing a new engine means they have to keep parts available for the 998, the 1330, and the new one. Plus train mechanics.

Also, the future's looking kinda squirrelly, economy wise. Also, rumors of war. It might be smarter to keep things steady for a bit more time.

Of course, it could be part of a strategy of planned obsolescence. Eventually, they'll stop supporting the 998, parts- and maintenance-wise, and the 998 owners will have to get one of the newer ones. Then once they get us hooked on the new design, they'll phase out the 1330. Lather, rinse, repeat. Detroit used to do this -- keep their product lines turning over, churning, creating demand for the newest and latest.

I hear BRP is adding another wheel, roof, air-conditioning, doors and seat belts.
I understand they are also adding a breathalyzer so you'll need to blow your ride.....for safety.
