Default Miles you rode this year and special memorable trips

Weather here in Chicago has finally turned too ugly to ride. But not until I got 10K miles in this year. My highest total so far. And that is with no long trips. It was all commuting and going out at night after work. I did in a forest preserve. Its small, so I go up and down several of the best roads. I wish I lived in a place where I had more available.

Head South to Springfield, Missouri in May...

This was my shortest year of riding:
My most memorable trip, was riding my RT-L back to the dealership to trade it in: but that was on June 27th!

This year was a busy year and we had less time to ride , we both only got in around 15,000 miles as we were selling our home and had to thin the plunder out and put the remaining in storage . Our memorable trip was a 4,465 mile ride from Oregon to Yellowstone to Glacier Park, back down to Hell's Canyon then over the Wallowa's then back home.

My most memorable trip would have to be the one at the end of April. That is when I went to Gatlinburg, Tn. on my 2012 RSS, and had my 2016 F3T delivered to me in a Walmart parking lot. That 4 day trip accumulated about 1600 miles.
My next trip was to Staunton, Va. for the annual M109R meet in mid June. There I had a chance for my spyder to really stretch it's legs, as the break-in period was over. On this 5 day trip, it accumulated another 1700 miles.
My next trip was with another spyder friend of mine in early October. We did the entire length of the BRP and Skyline Drive in 3 days. This was another total of around 1500 miles
My last trip was to the Spyder Rally held in Maggie Valley. As always, we had a good time. This trip was in the middle of October, and we were there for 5 days and totaled about 1800 miles. Total number of miles during my 7+ months of ownership, 9k+.

2017 was a good year of riding for us.

2016 was my medical year. I had three heart procedures and a hip surgery. We put a total of 4600 miles on two Spyders. My lowest year of riding in over a decade.

2017 we did better. 11000 miles on two 's. No special trips--just enjoying the countryside and my new found freedom from health issues.

I even purchased another two wheeler. I put 3079 miles on that between June 28 and shutdown on Oct 11.

Riding season start 4/6 and shutdown (ice and snow on roads) 10/11. Not our longest riding season--but a good one. 14,000 miles and change.

Default We bought our RT in January..

and currently have 17,800 miles on it, but the year isn't over. The longest and most memorable trip was to Nova Scotia and we racked up a tad over 5000. Four trips to Maggie Valley including the rally in October. I have two wheelers in the garage as well so current ride total is at 24,000 so far this year. Retirement helps

Did about 10,000 miles this year so far. Best ride was when Cynthia and I went to Montrose CO. over July 4th. Great trip in spite of hitting a dog on the way over.P1050482.jpgP1050494.jpg

Wow, 2017 had so many memorable trips for us, starting with the Southern States Emergency Room Tour which took us from the ER in Las Vegas to an ER in Pensacola, FL then on to Mobile, AL ER and surgery then on to Santa Rosa NM for a 5 night hospital stay for Joe. Along the way I turned 100,000 miles on my 14 RT and we attended Spyders on the Bayou and the Gathering of the Fools in Houston.

Spyderfest was was a blast, as it always is, and we went home via a side trip to North Carolina to see the grandkids. In May we headed out on a great adventure to Homecoming. June had us at the Heart of Washington event, July we caged it to the Deadwood Rally. I flew to Pitbull in late July to purchase my F3 T and enjoyed my solo ride back to Las Vegas. In August we attended the NISR Rally in Council Bluffs, IA then over Labor Day we flew to WA to ride two Spyders to Las Vegas for friends. We had the NorCal Rally in CA and Red Rocks in UT in September and in October we rode to Midland TX for a weekend of work followed up by the Texas Hill Country Rally the next weekend.

We will I’ll start the New Year with a trip to northern CA to get a Russell Day Long saddle.

2017 will probably go down as my most memorable Spyder year. Haven't figured out yet how many miles I did but the best trip was to Homecoming, not so much for the trip but for the very special lady I met on the way up. We're still together 6 months later and are going on a cruise over New Year's.

To say I'm looking forward to the 2018 season would be an understatement.

    Default MEMORABLE YEAR

2017 was a memorable year for me. I put close to 12,000 miles on my Spyder this year. First was the Spyder homecoming in Valcourt in early June. Two days after I returned from Valcourt I travelled to Atlanta in my car for open heart surgery that was planned for several months. Had a valve replaced and another repaired. After about three weeks at home I went back to work. In mid September I rode the Spyder to the Red Rocks Rally in St. George, UT. I took 4 days to get out there and 4 days to get back. A wonderful trip with memorable scenery and meeting new friends. For 2018 I plan to ride to Deadwood, SD again for the fourth annual three wheel trike rally.

Default First year on a spyder

Picked up my 2012 rss in april of this year an although I did not do as much as I usually do on my ST1300 I managed to do 24,000 plus on the spyder. Travelled to Atlanta Georgia, east coast of the US and Canada to Friendship Weekend where I got to meet the people on Oak Island that are digging for treasure.

I must say I loved my ST1300 and it was my favorite bike which I put on 245,000 miles in 6 years. I am really enjoying the spyder, still got another 2 wheeler if I need though.

My most memorable ride this year wasn't long but was very special. The 2017 Blue Knights 35th annual Teddy Bear Run to benefit the Richmond, VA Children's Hospital. We delivered teddy bears to the kids (patients) at the hospital, ladies from a local sorority were there to collect the bears while the kids watched.

Watching the excitement in the kids faces was very special. The other thing was our 10 mile ride into town to the hospital. We had a simple police escort with an officer in front, one in back and a couple of floaters to block the side roads. Oncoming traffic didn't have to stop but every single car pulled over and stopped. It really got to me when a fairly large oncoming funeral procession pulled over and stopped. I had never seen that before.

I did not keep track of the miles this year, but over the last 4 years we averaged 17,000 miles per year. Now that we both will be retired come riding weather we plan on upping that.

Our one and only long ride this year was going to Homecomming and than on to the east coast to visit my son and his family (Boston).

Hope to see a lot of you great Spyder riders next year - either on the road, or at the rally's!

I must say, it does me good to see that there are people who actually ride their bikes (trikes, spyders, or whatever). Being on the M109 forum, it kills me to see people with a 4-5 year old bike with under 5k miles on it. On the good side, it allows me to pick up a nearly new bike at a good used price. Keep riding people and enjoy life as it was meant to be be enjoyed.

x 2. Many of the posters are also riders. We bought em to ride em--not just talk about em. I am glad for SL though. Gives me something to do for about six months of the year. The only bad thing about Alaska. The short and cool riding season.

Off topic a bit. Rider magazine has a review of the new GW. They like it a lot. I am not reading about a white color though? I am thinking you folks are going to have a great year coming up.

I have never understood why, outside of illness or other catastrophe, people spend big bucks on a motorcycle and then there it sits several years later with only a few miles on it. For my sake I'm glad they do, cause it allows me to buy what I want still fairly new and with low miles.

Default This was a great first year....

I got my 2016RT-S delivered to my garage on Jan 5 with snow on the ground, we had a very nice Feb, got to ride a couple of times, first time on a Spyder or motorcyle, lots to learn and got great info from SpyderLovers .
Went to my first Spyderfest, besides the crappy weather it was fun.
Hosted a Squared away event at my house, met great people it was a blast.
Lots of short little trips around Iowa.
Got invited to SpyderFever in Council Bluffs, met more great people, making good friends that live across the state.
Made a solo trip down to Lamonster Garage to Purl some new farkles, met great people over the three days. Great hospitality from the Lamonster , met new friends from Texas.
Total about 7,200 miles on my spyder "Purl"

2018 is going to bring more of the same, trip to spyderfest with friends from Nebraska, Spyder Fever again and hopefully another farkle trip to Lamonster. The best part is all my new Spyder family and friends, nice group of people. Attached a great photos of PURLIMG_2070.jpgIMG_2071.jpg
