    Ran across, not into or over, a couple in my time on the back roads. Even their cousins the alligators try running over one of them.

    I make it a point to always stop and help these turtles get across .... this one isn't very large ..... be very careful tho, they have very strong legs and HUGH claws .... Always pick them up in their middle ... wear gloves if you got'im ....I've quite a few 20+ pounders .............. Protect nature - Mike

    Snapping turtles have very long necks and can get you if you're not careful. I've always picked them up by the base of the tail. It won't hurt them and you're able to keep all of your fingers.
