About 16,000 on factory kenda

My dealer in minnesota would only replace with factory tires so I made a call to a car tire shop near Sturgis S.D. he said he could get me a tire so we lit out 600 miles to Sturgis dropped off the Spyder and went to see the buffalo. He set the tire presure at 27 without me saying a word. Very Happy replaced with Kumho AST

^^ Only if it's NOT a Kenda - the Kendas need their recommended pressure to work at all well; they have very little substance in their sidewalls and tread, so going lower in pressure for them just makes all their issues worse!! And while those of you still running them might think they are working OK & don't have too many issues, don't be fooled, just about ANY proper car tire of an appropriate size at the correct pressure for that tire carrying the lightweight load will be markedly better in ALL respects!

All very true, but he did get a car tire so the 20 PSI recommendation is valid! He just didn't say what kind.

Just making sure people understand that the 'lower pressure recommendation' is NOT for THE OE spec Kenda's!

I recently got a message from a fella (who shall remain nameless) complaining about how bad the ride & handling was when he dropped the pressure in his OE rear Kenda to 20psi!.......

With real car tires, 20psi is much better than 27-28 psi as you quite rightly pointed out, cos the stronger tires don't need so much pressure to let them do the job, & running the lower pressure in them will help the tire reach proper operating temps and flex sufficiently to improve their traction on the ground as the rubber blocks flex & act like little fingers to grip the road surface.

I’ve gradually gone from 26 in my new rear Kuhmo down to 20, and have found zero issues and more stability.

Unfortunately a lot of those posts have WRONG info in them .... Both Peter Aawen and I have stated in close to 100 + posts that lower PSI allows the CAR tires to function at their Optimum ..... Both Peter & I have actually had schooling concerning Tires ..... the OEM Kenda's have completely different construction properties and MUST be run at 28PSI or more..... But CAR tires on the rear need about 18 psi to work best .......... Mike

+1, Based on Mike and Peter's recommendations, my new Bridgestone rear tire at 18 - 20 lbs has over 8,000 miles, mostly two up, often at speeds exceeding my wife's comfort level, and there's no wear visible. My original Kenda rear tire (Run at 27) was bald across the middle bands at 10,800 miles.
