Trailering an RT my solution

So, a few years ago I wanted to trailer my Cognac 2014 RT-S SE6. I sent for the "Superclamp" set up in plenty of time to get it and install it on my 18' drop tail flatbed car trailer. It didn't arrive when I expected it and after many excuses about the carrier, the manufacturer and the retailers all pointing fingers at each other.... and not a one of them offered to overnight one of the Superclamp sets to me, I told them to just cancel my order and I'd figure something out. MAN, I'm glad I did. Save a BUNCH of money!! So, below are pictures of my solution...

I essentially build my own "Superclamps". I just made sure that at least one of the "Clamp" bolts went through a steel cross support. AS you see beneath the one that does not go through the angle iron, I used TWO big washers. There are also 2 heavy (1/2" solid) duty eyes also bolted through a steel cross support. I installed the eyes a bit in front of the rear passenger foot boards and just tie the Spyder down and front against the "clamps". I have trailered 1000's of miles with no issues.

This weekend I am going to also trailer my RT622 trailer. I am not sure how I'll tie it down but, I have a few ideas.

I used pressure treated lumber to build these and let them dry out before priming and painting them. I added some sand to the paint on the bottom just to add a little bit of grip to keep it from even WANTING it to slide forward. Also some grit added to the part the tire touches inside the "clamp" part. I don't leave them on the trailer. In fact just this weekend, I re-decked the trailer and put them on for a trip to the NY finger lakes area coming up soon.

Don't know where you could mount it but I had this bracket fabricated for my enclosed 16' trailer to hold the ball that my Freedom trailer mounted on. See attached pics. There are several more pics in an album on my profile

I plan to just keep my trailer attached to the Spyder. Just need to keep the rear from sliding/bouncing around. I like your idea with the ball at the front of your trailer....pretty neat! I'm not a bad welder but it's not second nature to me. For some reason, I went with a "wooden" solution. My brain was locked on that "Superclamp" idea so, I went with that. I suspect one day my clamps will rot and I'll built the steel ones. Nice set up!
