Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Oil

Is anyone using Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic 10W-40 in their Spyder? I have been using it in the last several motorcycles have owned and seemed to be real good. I used in it two BMW LT’s and the last three Goldwings. I have little over 14,000 miles on my 2015 RT and it has always had Can Am XPS maintenance & oil change Kit. I do all my own service so I thought I would use the Mobil 1.

Been using M1 4T oil in our 2014 RT since 6k. It now has a little over 45k on it with no engine troubles.....(me knocking on wood)

That is a huge arguing point with Goldwing owners but hundreds, thousands or hundreds of thousands of Wing owners use it without a problem. I ran it in my last two Wings and never had any sort of clutch issue.

Correction: I used 15-40W Mobil-1 Full Syn in all my street bikes. I did NOT use the "high mileage" version. Sorry about the omission.

Two things about that:

I assume the Spyder has a "wet" clutch and if that is true, you should NOT use car oil......of any type or grade.

And you absolutely should NOT use "high mileage" oil in any vehicle that is not using excessive oil already.

Now......if you are talking about the Mobil 1 motorcycle oil......very good stuff. You should not worry about using it regardless of what others are doing.

I certainly hope not......unless they are OLD Wings.

....Be careful, Mobile #1 has many different types ...and they ARE all labeled MOBILE #1 .... you need the one that's motorcycle specific and OK for wet clutch application ..... Mike

I used (I think) Mobil 1 20W-50, it said for "Made for Harley Davidson Wet Clutches" on the bottle with a pic of a motorcycle. I don't remember all those specs, but the owners manual calls out do not use "xxxx" rated. Been a while since I changed oil. Search oil change in the forums

Mobile 1 4T motorcycle oil only. Only M1 oil rated for wet clutches.

If you are not stuck on an Exxon product, a much more readily available oil that DOES meet all the BRP specs is Shell Rotella T6 and its available at most auto parts stores and even WalMart.

Look at the circle with the ratings of the oil. If it says Resource Conserving, it will not work well with wet clutches. Mobil 1 High Mileage does not have the Resource Conserving rating. I have been using it in my Valkyrie for over 100K miles and it works fine. I plan to try it in the Spyder at my next oil change.

Yes they do ... it's MONEY ...... BRP's oil has been sent to Labs for testing by many, many members here and the verdict was .... there are a lot of other readily available oils that meet or Exceed ( mostly exceed ) BRP's specs for a lot less money ............ Mike

Yes it is for a wet Clutch or I would not have been using it in a Goldwing.

Yes it is used with wet clutch t is their High Mileage oil.

After reading everything on here I think I will go to the Mobil 1 4T. I have been using Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic oil for over 15 years and have had no problem. It said it was ok with wet clutch.I will pay the extra money and use the 4T.

I still run an oil analysis after each change and I was not happy with the shearing of the BRP oil, so I went to the M1 4T. The oil does take a beating in the transmission which causes the shear of the viscosity, but in the M1 4T the shearing was less. Let me find the threads in the 1330 section and post the link.

You aren't getting the point; actually there are two DIFFERENT points.

It is OK on the wet clutch compatibility but it has extra additives that can actually make a healthy engine wear faster......like the valve guide seals and some gaskets.

Mobil 1 has a FINE motorcycle oil. Why not just use THAT instead of taking the chance on something designed for old, worn engines ????

Mobil 1 motorcycle oil is available in EVERY auto parts store I've ever been in AND most WalMarts AND several "farm" stores too.
But then so is T6. It is a good product too.

So Is It True that the 1330 Has a wet clutch Just like the 998 V-twin?? If So you should use something like The Castrol RS 4T 10-40 Like I use which has a JASO MA 2 Rating?
OR Does the 1330 Not need the JASO Rating???

Mobil 1 motorcycle oil is available in EVERY auto parts store I've ever been in AND most WalMarts AND several "farm" stores too.
But then so is T6. It is a good product too.

And its not made or sold by Exxon.
