For those doing their own oil change on 998
Just changed oil before heading out to the Red Rock Rally. Thought I would take a pic or three of some things to consider while changing your oil. There are two different crush washers for the drain plugs. Switch them one at a time so as not to get them mixed up. On the SE models (semi-automatic) the bolts holding the filter caps on are different lengths. Change each filter one at a time if you get those mixed up you can have some major problems. And if you haven't done it in some time...check the filter screen in the oil tank. Then add 3 + quarts of oil then start her up and run her till at running temp then check and add till between add and full.....
20170925_100152.jpgThe two crush washers...(those are dimple plugs may not match yours) 20170925_095342.jpg you will have to remove the oem otiker clamp I replaced it with a worm drive clamp makes it easy to check the screen. 20170925_095313.jpg Very fine mesh but you don't want it to get plugged up. I have checked it twice in 37.000+ miles and it was clean. Use a good oil and it will stay clean...
