Who ever didn't learn anything from it is quite foolish. Let's hope it's being taught and shown to the kids in school.

Nor will I .... on that very day, 16 short years ago, I was involved in an actual Disaster Recovery "exercise" with my employer. We simulate a disaster and see if we can recover the system within the specified 24 hour window from backups that are stored at a secure location. When these simulations are done, they use real computer hardware that is also used for real disasters. There was a window of a few hours where we were told we might have to abandon our exercise if any World Trade customers asked for actual recovery.

I still have photos that I saved and can't get the images out of my head .... as Alan Jackson said:

"Where were you when the world stopped turning, on that September day?" I know where I was, and I will never forget .... Ann

Personally, I don't think 9/11/2001 compares to 12/7/1941 in shock and damage and while I fully understand the Japan of today isn't the same country that attacked us in 1941 the results of that attack were catastrophic in comparison. At least WWII had an ending. Seems like the USA has been in constant war with someone ever since.

That is also a day to remember. I was not here yet, but from history, can still remember seeing film of President Roosevelt and his famous "Day of Infamy" speech. I remember the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor every year.

I was also a couple years from existence but I remember my father telling me he was already in the Army (cavalry of all things) and sitting around the barracks in Kansas on a Sunday when the radio blurted out the attack story. None of the guys in his outfit had any idea where Pearl Harbor was. Same question I asked when my Navy buddy was telling me he got his orders to MACV Saigon. I remember asking "where the hell is Saigon?"

Some things never seem to change.
