Default "BAD KEY" after I replaced battery

I installed a new battery in my 2012 RTS-SE5. I charged the new battery before I installed it. When I attempt to start it everything lights up like it should, but the read safety card message doesn't come up. When I push the mode button a few times the orange screen reads "BAD KEY". I tried the second key with the same results. I should add that it doesn't start.

I know this is an old post but how did you resolve your issue? I am having similar issue on 2012 Limited

Call your dealership explain what happen. Can you push your spyder on to a trailer? Take it to your dealership get the D.E.S.S module replaced and have them reprogram your keys.

    I had a 2012 RTS-SE 5 I did not get the D.E.S.S error.

I got the D.E.S.S errors in 2014, when I bought my new 2014 RTS-SE6. I started a tread about the D.E.S.S errors that I had at the time.
