Anyone tried Tire Balancing with Ceramic Beads?

I don't know if everyone expressing their opinion really knows first hand but when I had beads in mine I was told by the supplier to remove existing tape weights and put in two ounces in front tires with four ounces in rear tire. Why would a person say leave on old weights doesn't understand that leaving them defeats the purpose of doing this. If you do leave the weights, it only seems to me you have to make up the difference by adding more to fix a different problem.

How do you know how much you need. Considering the beads end up in the area needed but is 2 oz enough. Most tires are not mounted properly for balance so some need more weight. If you have them balanced you would not really need beads unless they were not balance right. So add some and they will clean up any discrepancy. So are these beads just rolling around until you get up to speed and they relocate to the needed spot...? Does this have to happen each time you stop..? Do you have to shimmy and shake till they correct the balance...? makes you wonder....

When I had the General Altimax tire mounted to the back of my about 6 months ago the tech at Michaels cycle in Reno adjusted the tire on the rim to get balance with NO weights added! . Runs smooth as glass with Doc's belt tensioner.

Trouble is, the bead manufacture has no idea just how bad Kenda tires are. MOST we have had the pleasure of removing are far more than 2oz out of balance.

Most of the top tier tires we install balance with zero to 1/2 oz if they are positioned on the rim as suggested by the tire manufacture.

We no longer recommend the beads at all. Have had several tires destroyed by them when they clump up and imbalance the tire they were installed it. They also have a bad habit of getting stuck in valve stems at the wrong time. Its far better to balance the tires correctly when installed. If you want a dynamic balance that auto corrects as you drive, get the centramatic balancers. They really do work without the drawbacks of the beads.

In my case, the factory weights were really close to being 100% but not quite. (the weights on the wheel were there to balance the tires that were on the wheels, not leftovers from previous tires) The beads took care of the slight imbalance that was still present. Also, they can't tell if the out of balance is from the weights or tires.

Anybody using Tire beads? I just had my bike at the Dealership correcting a wheel shake. Some of the stick on weights have fallen off, so I'm looking for an alternative that I can do at home.

A LOT of folks use them. There is also the Centramatic Balancer route... This puts NOTHING inside the tire that could possibly weaken the liner etc... Plus during a tire change you don't have to worry about trying to recover the beads or have to buy new...

If you are running the stock Kenda tires you may have an out-of-round tire. That could throw your weights off. If possible, find a tire shop and spin balance the wheels.
Ideally, replace the Kendas asap.

I have use Counteract balance beads.
Had them in my Buell XB12 and Harley XR1200 with no issues.
Just put then in the Ryker is week.
It comes in a kit with everything you need.
The kit for Spyders and Rykers is kit "G"

I discovered the balance beads back when I had my 07 Vulcan. Tubed tires are a PIA to keep up with balance. Have run the beads ever since. An RSV, Victory Cross country tour, Ram 2500, first gen Durango 4wd. Never saw any problems inside tires. Heck some even ran TPMS.
