    Default CABOT

i just returned from Nova Scotia....
just a HEADS-UP, the most north part of the Cabot Trail is under construction, and the wait can be as long as 2 hours... there's not much to see from Hunters Mountain to Margaree Forks - it's all inland, and the road isn't that good... do the Cabot counter-clock-wise, and at Margaree Forks, stay on Rt. 19 south.... just my opinion...
Aulds Cove has a great place to stay: http://www.covemotel.com tell Tony i said "hi".... great food too...
the Trans-Canada Highway is awesome, smooth & clean... however, some of the back roads can be challenging... Rt. 344 south to Halifax is extremely challenging, rough and not much to see...
hope this helps some... enjoy and post pix...

Nice to see lots of folks heading around the Cabot Trail, it is a beautiful drive. Itoo am headed around the 'trail" next week but I am only 90 mins away.
Great advice from SPYD3R on the route and great food at the cove, I never stayed there as it is only 30 mi. Away.
Here is a link to current road construction in Nova Scotia, you can see 3-4 different spots on the Cabot Trail.

Seen 10 Spyder today. Met a couple this afternoon that just came down the west side and they were covered in mud. It rained hard last night and the construction area was all mud. Hope that area is dried out tomorrow. Left Moncton this morning at 9:00 and arrived in Chetticamp, Cape.Breton at 5:30 today. Overcast all day. Bruce

Completed the Cabot Trail today. Had a great time. As mentioned above, alot of construction. We lucked out at all of the construction sites except one. We had to wait about 10 minutes, not to bad. Longest wait was at the Causeway waiting for the bridge to swing back around. We had no rain while riding around the Cabot Trail. Met alot of bikes and campers. Here are a few pics. Bruce

HAPPY TO SEE YOU ARE HAVING FUN......
i was absolutely amazed at how clean everything is in Novi.... roads, yards, men's rooms, etc....
i may take my wife next year... although she WILL NOT sit on the back of my F3, i will have to use the TUNDRA, which isn't all that bad... i was just completely blown-away with the beauty of Novi...

Just returned from our Cape Breton Island ride. We racked up 4200 miles in 15 days and that included a few 500 and one 600 mile day. We bought our RT in January and now have 14,000 miles on it. We were pleasantly surprised at just how comfy the bike is on a long days ride. Rainsuits on the day we left and rainsuits today when we came home, other than that the weather was good. We rode Cabot Trail both directions and although there is plenty of construction our longest wait was five minutes. We saw the fortress at Louisbourg and visited other areas such as Baddeck and Inverness. We stayed near Sydney Mines at a little place called Kow's Inn and I must say that in 40+ years of bike touring this was one of the cleanest rooms we have had. The restaurant was also spotless and the food was good. The owner was a nice fella and takes pride in his business. It shows.
