    Default New RT owner here.

A couple of questions to the much more knowledgable on the board.
    1) What is the expected life of the drive belt? (normal driving conditions)
    2) Are there any lube fittings (zerk) on the chassis?
    Thank's in advance

Take a look around & you'll find what you need within the forum. The grease fittings were taken off the models some time ago. Belt life is quite a few thousand miles. I recommend getting a service manual in pdf. It has a lot of info in it.

with Mike x 2. Belt life should be at least 50 to 100, and maybe even more-unless you pick up a rock.

I was hoping for a long life, but at about 12K miles on my RT-S I ended up with a BB size hole just off center in the belt. Dealer said it looked like it came through from the inside. does not seem to be growing but wonder how long I can trust it? I have put on almost 5K more miles on it with no change. Also I have checked and a new belt will cost 300.00+

I have replaced two--due to rocks. $280 for the belt, plus installation, plus tow. Can be an expensive proposition if it happens to you. Most do not experience the problem.

    Default Welcome welcome....

to both the spyder world and this most informative site...congrats on the new ryde.. as to your questions...as stated above we have seen better than 100,000 don't have many above that that come by here but those with 100,000 are still going strong. The damage to a wear Item is not covered by warranty unless it is a belt defect or drive train defect and subject to BRP. We have vendors with items to help protect your belt if you are in rough terrain areas. Your model and year does not have grease fitting so you need not worry about that...just enjoy the ryde...

There have been members here who have reported much worse and didn't change their belt and continued racking up considerable miles without further damage .......... Monitor it & get another belt for " if this ones fails "...... Personally, I wouldn't change that belt. They are a lot tougher than you might think ......I have Drag Raced all my Spyders and never had belt issues, I think the STRESS from that is considerably greater than a BB size hole ......Whet you could do , is to make sure the tension is at the very bottom of the BRP spec's ( mine is 30 lbs lower than that ) .... Default Belt life

My belt lasted 108,352 miles. I noticed a quarter inch bump on it at around 11,000 miles. The dealer said I should replace it but it just kept going. The last I heard SpyderAnn had over 114,000 on her RT-S OEM belt.

    Thumbs up Missing belt guard

    Hay Johnny,

Maybe consider getting the missing belt guard from Spyderpops. $45 and at least some peace of mind.
