Me and 8 friends went for a ride tonight, I was too embarrassed to take the spyder so I rode my son's Harley instead.
Good job BRP, I now have a $22,000 piece of junk in my garage.
This is does not effect every SE but it is a fix for some of them for sure.
If for whatever reason your SE gets stuck in gear and you pull over and turn the key off an then turn it back on again and your parking brake beeper does not beep at you like it would normally then your tcm has shut down. What seems to be happening is there a rf feed back coming from the coil pack that's messing up the computer. The fix is to run a ground wire from the coil pack mount to a good ground on the frame. I called one of my BRP contacts to verify this.

I am in the same boat, Just started having shifting problems at 2000 miles. I have a 2009 SE5, has been in the shop since 4/15/09. Starting to get a little dissapointing, but I am at the mercy of BRP and their service techs. It's kinda like this ( if this doesn't work, we will send you this part to fix it,,, no fix,, OK we will send you this part to fix it,,, no fix,) sooner or later they are going to run out of parts to replace to try and fix. Getting very close to giving up, after 2 months of riding and my bike being in the shop for almost 3 weeks. Not too much fun...

What is your Spyder doing?

My spyder has been sitting in the shop. I was riding home from work last Wed. 4/15, and while I was riding home was shifting up from 1st to 2nd gear, then it would pop back down to 1st, This kept on happening all the way home, so I drove directly to the dealer. Has been there ever since, they said that bulletin # 2008-0005 would fix the problem, but that did not do it, they changed out 2 parts #'s 420-266166 = gear box
420-238845 = recoil spring. Then they tried the grounding fix, still no good, next they are going to try the sylinoids. So I probably will not see my bike for another 2 weeks.

The service manager at Bow Cycle in Calgary phoned today, he informed me they will be picking the up in the next couple of days, and will take it away to be fixed, I just wonder when I will see it again and if it will have all the gremlins out of it.
At least they are picking it up, its a round trip of about 700Km. I am optimistic there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I, like so it seems many others have the same sort of problems with the transmission.
When I first picked up my S/B 08 SE5 I had all sorts of warnings flashing across the display, Check DPS, Temp gauge reading about 10 degrees higher, oil light flashing on most of the time, and starting an intermittent problem. When I had a look around the machine I found that none of the battery leads where tightened up. This only solved the DPS warning and made it easier to steer at lower speeds. With the transmission it wants to throw me out of the saddle sometimes when it’s changing down, and making a very harsh dry noise through all gears, also considerable vibration.
I had a test ride on the demo bike it was smooth and in changing down automatically had a little blip of power and changed smoothly, mine is like someone trying to break out with a sledge hammer. After this ride it was a must have. Not so sure Now.
With taking it back to the dealer and having it test ridden, diagnostically checked they said it was fine, with a tweak of something here and there(DUR, it’s not). But when I went to leave “in disgust” it wouldn’t start, in showing the mechanic this he decided to replace the selector switch for the transmission. I am still waiting for it to be acquired and fitted. Has anyone experienced the very disappointing start that I am having?
Ok enough belly aching for now, I love the concept of the Spyder, but I would just like a smoother ride.

Back to the shop in the morning, 27/05/09 to have the starting problem looked at, no joy whatsoever with the downshift, after having the sensor changed.
