    Default Anyone used a Harb. Freight trailer to haul the Spyder?

    I'm thinking of getting one of those $280(+/-) H.F. trailers and build a deck on it to haul my Spyder around. Anyone have any advise?

    There have talk here about the quality of their products ..... you want to make sure the inside measurements are a minimum 70 inches WIDE and 10 ft. long ..... INSIDE measurements ,...... make sure you get a TITLE otherwise you may not be able to register it ...... then check the wheel bearings ....... Mike

    They are strong enough, but not wide enough, unless you modify them.

    Default I was thinking of building a wood (2x4) deck on top of it.

    My F3s bike dimensions are 59"(front) x 8'-8" length. If I don't put any sides on then I won't have to worry about scratching the wheels or fenders. Three steel eye bolts (one at each wheel) from the frame up thru the deck used to fasten tie downs thru each wheel. Harbor freight 4x8ft trailer capacity load is 1750 lbs. and the spyder is 850lbs plus saddle bags, etc. Any thing I'm missing here.

    I have a HF trailer and getting wheel seals to repack the bearings has been a nightmare, Nothing in automotive or machinery market in the USA matches up...Had to get them from HF and they had to get them from China...

    I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE...larryd

    I wouldn't put a $30,000 Spyder on a $285 dollar trailer! Go get you a 6x10 metal or aluminum trailer and be safe not sorry later! You can buy a nice steel trailer for around $1000-$1400, and then you can haul it wherever you want too! That's my 2 cents worth!

    Default Thanks - bluestratos' trailer build is what I'm talking about

    ... and making it convertible to pull and be pulled is the way to go - which proves my point on another post I made about using your head instead of your wallet to solve a problem and create more fun with the spyder.

    Been saving my pennies for this one

    5 1/2 feet wide and 10 foot long. Has a wood floor and drive up ramp. I'll be adding a HF 12VDC 2500 lb. winch so pulling it on is a snap , lock the steering and it should making it safer than riding up. I can already see the necessity of adding some 1X10's on the ramp where the wheels will ride but no big deal. Made in USA but with Kenda (?SP) tires just like the Spyder.....
