    Default Headlight problem

I just briefly searched through the forums here for headlight info...both of my headlights are out. Foglights are the
only things working. Hitting High to Low makes the shutter sounds. How likely/unlikely is it that I would lose both
sides at the same time? Or is this some other culprit? If it is the bulbs then I will probably go with those fancy high
power(120w?) ones and do that. I am just not certain since they are both gone at the same time....

    Thoughts?

Check right fuse box, Fuse #1 and relays #1 and #2 to be sure they are properly seated.

    otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

First thing I would check is fuses. And go to LEDs if you decide to change the headlights.

On the -WHY , you already got good answers .......... on the 120 watts , I'm guessing " Halogen " ..... I had 100 watt halogens and they melted the OEM connecting plugs, wiring was OK and fronts Lens didn't melt ......I re-placed the Plugs with CERAMIC ones I found on e-bay ...... However they weren't near as bright as the 4000 lumen LED's from TricLED which are 10% off thru July 4th ( 89.99 )....... good luck ..... Mike

    Default Headlight problem

Thank you all for very fast replies.

I will be digging into the fuse box today and checking fuse #1 and relays but I would have

thought that if one of them was gone then the shutter would not be working too? Just
guessing here a little...would think fuse or relay would be an all or nothing.

Guess I know what my 4th will be including today. Good thing Uncle Sam gives me time
    off for spyder repairs.

    Cool Headlight problem

Wish it was that easy. Reseated and visually inspected 2 relays and 3 fuses and
all seems fine. Pretty certain it is still not working but then without a closed
garage and a beautiful sunny day it is actually difficult to see the "cheesy" headlights
if they are working. I am glad that the foglights can work in a pinch but definitely
not safe with the number of deer running rampant up here in upstate NY.

I will call my dealership(Bibbens) tomorrow from work and give them the rundown
to see that they have all parts on hand to do a quick repair while I wait. Hate
being without the ride now that the weather has FINALLY changed for the better. I also
have the fun of having to take time off work to get there before they close at
    6pm.

Oh well...third best toys going out shortly to enjoy the 4th...two kayaks to just
sit and drift. Second best would be our Jetski which we can't use right now due
to lake flooding...generating a 5 mph no wake speed limit, sorry but 5 mph doesn't
    work for a jetski...umm, ever.

    Happy 4th all!

So if I understand this Post , you aren't going to turn you Spyder on at 9:00 pm to see if the headlights WORK .... You'll just take it to the Dealer and let them find out ....... It must be nice to be RICH ....... Mike

You don't say how many miles you have on your Spyder but it is possible both bulbs went simultaneously, or within hours of each other. Don't ask how I know. Anyway, the owner's manual has very good instructions on how to change them. You need only a T30 Torx bit and 10mm socket with a long extension and ratchet. Only one important point to remember: the headlight aming cable can be installed in either of two positions and should be returned into the one it came from. Mine were marked with a grease pencil and were in the hole marked HB. A good tip from Ann Meyer of Squared Away is to use painter's tape to hold the top center mounting bolt into the socket when reinstalling it. You will be able to see why. Most important, if you are going to replace the 60W HB3 bulbs, also called a 9005, buy them from an autoparts store where they come in a sealed card. That way you won't get an OEM bulb that comes in a cardboard box and may have been handled by a greasy fingered parts kit. It is not a hard job to replace them.

You don't have much to lose: try changing the bulbs first!

LOL. Nope not rich when I earn less than minimum wage but not
sure where that comment fits in helping my headlight.

I was saying that the stock light is dim in the middle of
    the sunny day.

Headlight is still not working after checking the relays and fuses.

Will go find another way to fix it. Thanks.

Currently at almost 26k miles after less than 2 years.

Thank you for the tips. I will probably go that route and
end with improved LED lights. Too many near deer misses.

My foglights both went out at or around the same time.

    Default Lights

Frequently, one bulb is out for a while, we don't ride at night, don't notice. Then, the other goes out, and naturally, we are out at dark, and have no lights. Replace with LED headlights. Easy to do, just time consuming. Or, ride to Deadwood, SD, and I'll do it for you! Three wheel rally 13-15 July. Joe

I would love to make the ride to Deadwood...but already scheduled getting away and unplugging in the Adirondacks for some much needed camping.

Just to close out the thread. Thank you for all inputs.

Dealer was kind enough to test everything as he didn't believe that both bulbs would go at
same time. All was good. Swapped bulbs and fixed. Covered under warranty so well worth my
    dealership visit after all...

    Default Both my headlights died

Both of mine died at/or about the same time.
Left early one morning and no headlights, I also had to use the foglights for visability.
I checked all the relays and fuses.
Pulled one headlight out and it was blown.

Replaced mine with LEDs, they now work great.
