Default Emergency Assistance and road Side Assistance

    Two Questions

    1. I read the Post about the lady the got hurt coming back from Canada. Has anyone heard of or used Emergency Assistance Plus?

    2. Any recommendations on road side assistance. I have USAA for insurance and they do not have it for MC's. They have it for regular vehicles but not MCs. I tried AAA but in the county in New Jersey that I live they do not cover MCs.

    Thank you,

    Frank

If you use AAA: you have to purchase the optional RV coverage.
    They'll cover you!

    Default Roadside Assistance

You can also look at American Motorcyclist Association. Costs $50 per year, and this includes roadside assistance on all you vehicles.

All AAA's don't offer the same coverage. I do have RV on mine for the spyder.

Someone said their AAA offered traveler's medical, and mine doesn't; I did check.

That may be a difference between the coverages offered in the various States.

Check out Good Sam Club I've heard good things about their motorcycle coverage. I had AAA and cancelled it because they sucked. If your insurance has towing coverage find out the limits. Our Progressive has a 14 mile limit which won't get you from one side of town to the other.

The BRP warranty and BEST extended coverage come with roadside assistance, do they not?

    Default All of the above

Keep the "spyder codes" app handy and check with the spyders to the rescue section which can help you if you have not coverage. Many members can get you help in sticky situations....

We kept Good Sam for many years. Until one time I used it twice in one year. Then they cancelled us. And they were small tows.

Whatever. We are with AARP (hartford) now and the motorcycle coverage is pretty good and valid in all 50 plus Canada.

The BRP coverage only handles the first $200 of the tow and only to a BRP dealer.

I've had AMA for several years with my Harleys and never a problem even using them >1x/ year. Longer towing range to dealer of choice. My understanding is they treat Spyders no differently

There was a thread about a lady that got cut and went to an emergency room. First thing they did was charge her credit card $5,000 then she waited for an eternity to be seen.

Our AARP (Hartford) doesn't cover m/cycles -- wish it did.

I just now bought AAA Premier solely for our trip starting next week. They tow up to 200 miles.

I'm an USAA member and have my insurance thru USAA, however, it's underwritten by Progressive. It does have roadside assistance. You may want to give them a call, customer service number is 1-877-689-9794; email: https://www.progressive.com/usaa/. Dale

I've had AAA for over 25 years, last month while on a trip my battery went dead in Kingman Arizona. I called AAA and when I told them I had a Spryder they sais not covered and hung up on me.Called AMA and they noy only responded but the operator kept calling to make sure we were OK until the tow truck arrived to give us a jump or to two us to a shop. Needless to say my feelings about AAA right now are not what you would call positive..................

    Default CAA/AAA

In Canada your AAA is accepted by CAA at same coverage you have. I have a CAA plus which covers all my vehicles and MC, Spydera for 200 miles or closed service centre that services your vehicle. I have never had a problem with them
Done all of Canada except NWT and parts of Australia, New Zealand and areas of Europe

AARP Hartford has several plans. Ours specifically covers motorcycles. Take a look at the web page. Covers trucks with trailers too. All vehicles we own or rent.

I'm an AMA Member so I have that. Got BEST too.
Also the GWRRA has Road Riders Rescue. Rescueplus.org

It's $35 a year for members or $80 a year for non-members. You don't have to ride a Gold Wing to be a GWRRA member. I've been a member for years. It's where I also take my trike training classes for my insurance discount.

100 miles of towing, tire service, fuel delivery, map service and covers a family of four. 45,000 towing providers across U.S. and Canada. Other benefits as well.

After much research I went with AAA Plus RV. They must tow me anywhere I am up to 200 miles once a year and two other 100 mile tows, also yearly. A service call is considered anytime they respond to you regardless if they tow you or not. If you go over the 100 miles but don't wish to use the 200 mile tow you can pay the mileage over the original 100 miles. This cost me $160.00 a year. Can Am had too many restrictions on their free 2 year roadside so I have that just in case till it expires.

Thank you for all of your responses. They all refer to question #2

Does anyone have any information or comments about "Emergency Assistance Plus (AE+)" it is sponsored by the VFW, American Legion and a lot of other groups.

    Thanks

It would be more accurate to say it is 'pushed' by those groups to their members. They are paid by the insurance company to 'endorse' it to their members. Their endorsement means nothing whatsoever.
