Shiftingg issue on my 2004 SE5
hi all,
this morning i woke up to drive in to work. started my spyder up and let it warm up for 5 minutes.
shifted into 1st gear and was on my way. as i started to enter the highway - i gained some speed and hit the "+" to shift to 2nd gear and so on.
nothing happens - i stay on 1st. i hear the bike rev like it wants to shift into 2nd, but stays on 1st geAar.
i slow down, then pick up speed and try agian...............same thing
i tried like 4 times with same results
i pull over - get off the next exit - drive back home and take my car to work...
i also noticeed that sometimes when i shift down - i get a shhort burst or jump of boost speed...
for example - if im cruising in 4th geaar and start to approach traffic - i slow down so the bike does the autio shift down
in the midsst of shifting from 4th to 3rd, i geet a sudden burst of speed - then from 3rd to 2nd, i get another short burst of speed - and sasame from 2nd to 1st
the bike only has 4000 miles on it... can it be oil is bad or needs changing
anyone else experience this issue?
any help is much appreciated

Have you check the oil level? Should be checked when hot but in your case since you are having gear shift issues. Check it cold and if below the dipstick. Add half a quart. If anywhere between the add and full that's not the problem.

Thanks....
for getting back with the outcome. always nice to hear we are helping and solving issues. Iwould however double check your oil level the recommended way and see that you are where you should be...between add and full. That is a lot of oil you added and too much oil is not good either...
