I have a 2015 RT SE6 with 10500 miles on the original tires which are wearing only in the center. They are inflated to 28. What could be causing this?20170607_201423.jpg
I believe all the kenda rears do this because of being a motorcycle tire. Do a search for kenda tires on here & you'll find more info on it.

...sort of ..... All Kenda tires do this ..... not because they are Motorcyle tires tho, they are CAR tires .... stamped for " Special Motorcycle Use Only " ..... which really means , Don't use them on ANY CAR because they are not built to carry the weight of ANY CAR ...... Basically It's a crappy tire made to MINIMUM standards, they wear in the center because they are so weak they BALLOON at speed .... so they wear in the center first.... get some car tires and they should last 25,000 miles at least ...... Mike
Mine have wore down to the wear bars and I lowered the press to 24 psi to get a bit more mileage out of it before replacement. I currently have 8K on mine. I have a Yokahama S drive waiting to be put on when I get the time to do it.

You are exactly right! It's been 10 years and BRP is still producing a 2 ply (tread area) car tire that you can't run on a car (for the reasons you describe). You could run 10 lbs. in that tire and it would still wear in the middle.
As Mike says. Get a car tire that is good at shedding water with good traction ratings and you'll be much better off.

Its just the crappy construction quality of the Kenda tire. Replace it with a better tire and it will not do this.

My first set of Kendas wore great and I got near 20K miles from them. The rear wore nice and flat but my 2nd rear tire looks way worse than yours and I have only 8Kmiles on it.
I came to the same conclusion as others have stated, that the tire elongates while at highway speeds. To me this means the tires being produced are even of lesser quality that what came on my 2010RTSE5.
We are into the rainy season here in South West Florida and I am not comfortable with the rear tire as is in the rain.
I have a General Altimax RT43 sitting in the garage that i will install myself this coming weekend.
As you know it is a two ply tire and at speeds the center tends to come more into play than the rest of the tread. You also chirp the tire depending on your ryding style and don't really notice it much. I have had good luck with these tires and I am guessing it is the weather, ryding style and the road construction. I have noticed that most of the complaint of tire wear are form colder climates with long storage periods. There are many factors that come into play.

10,500 miles of tread-life isn't all that bad... my was toast at 5,700!
If you find a higher quality replacement for it: you can easily double your mileage.
Replace it with any tire but the Vee Rubber Arachnid which is equally as crappy as the Kenda.
