Default Dynamic wheel balancer from Lamonster

After reading a lot of posts recently concerning out-of-balance wheels / tires I thought I'd check out Lamonster's new product (as in - read about it). I don't currently have any balancing issues so it was more curiosity than anything else.

Anyway, there are a couple of videos on this page which illustrate how the concept works http://www.lamonstergarage.com/lamon...nt-set-of-two/. Pretty impressive. Also impressive is that Lamont has worked with the manufacturer to develop an application specifically for Spyder wheels.

Has anyone with a wheel balancing issue tried these out?

Louise and I both have them on our bikes. We are both amazed at the improvement they provided. And we thought our wheels were balanced just fine.

I am running them. First with the cr@ppy Kenda's on which they did a remarkable job of quelling their vibs due to "out of roundness". Even tho they aren't designed for that! Now with quality tires on the front (Federal Formoza AZ01's), it is perfect at all speeds (well, up to 126 indicated)! AND I MEAN PERFECT! I have the rear installed as well. It wasn't used with the Kenda but is now with a Kuhmo Ecsta AST. Same results, PERFECT at all speeds!

If you don't have any balancing issues then leave alone.

I used with out weights and did me no good.

If your tires already have A LOT of weight on them, the new rule is to leave them on as the balancers are not designed nor can they overcome a tire that is way out of balance. I believe Lamont indicated over 3 oz. of weights on the tires, leave the weights on.

My fronts were balanced at the installers. The rear was not at the dealer....

We make sure the tires and wheels are balanced with standard weights before installing these. They are not a replacement. Especially for the Kenda tires that are so poorly made they often require large quantities of weight.

This is the proper approach.... Even with the Centramatic's...

    Default Balancers

I have a 2012 RTS and I had to shim the brake caliper out because the balancers would ride on the calipers. After this is was all good and work great. This was for the front only I noticed it being a smoother ride. I haven't tested the rear yet as I just am replacing the junk kenda tire with a Yokohoma S drive.

If you have 14 wheels they don't work. They are for the 15 inch wheels..

Default Mine work perfectly without ANY wheel weights and Kenda Fronts.

I bought new PPA wheels for my 13 RTL. Transferred the original Kenda's that still have loads of wear available, (Bike only has 16.000 miles). No weights on the PPA wheels, no vibrations. I've driven them over 4000 miles since mounting, one Iron Butt SS1K, and one 1,700 mile 2.5 day trip.

Sounds great but what about unfortunate event a pothole knocks a weight off?

They are not covers. I removed the calipers, epoxy coated them, applied new Brembo logo decals and reinstalled the calipers.

I've had them on my semi for years and I love them! I'm glad to see them for the Spyder and will be getting full set soon!

I have used DynaBeads for years on many different bikes which is same principle. They worked great in all cases. The Centramatic that Lamonster sells are likely good product but a little pricey. I’d like to try them.
