    Default Bugs

What items are available to help shield against bugs and what items do most of you use once the splatter occurs?

What exactly are you trying to "shield", the rider or the bike ??

Hydrogen peroxide will remove bug guts pretty quickly.....but a short soak is usually required.

    Default Ah well...

There are sprays at your local bike shop and auto parts stores. You can also just soak the area with warm soapy towels and a bunch of other diy ways. The radiators you can add aftermarket grilles to help keep them out of the cooling fins. Cleaning them is a bit tougher. Again soaking and some hose spraying or air nozzel will clear them up as well...

Guess was thinking along what things to add to lessen the number, will the aftermarket grilles do a better job protecting the radiator? Was thinking they would restrict airflow too much.. Thought I saw someone selling light covers that velcro in front of headlights, but havn't found them yet, will keep digging. Tganjs.

One thing I learned from the RV community, Dryer sheets work great on bug splats. No soaking, no pre-treatment, just wet the windshield / front end / face shield / whatever and they just wipe off with the dryer sheets.

I keep a zip-lock full of them in all my vehicles. Cleans glass, plastic, paint, and everything else I have tried them out on.

I have also watched closely for any scratching / swirl marks from them and over the past three years have not seen any problems, even on my F6B which is notorious for it's soft paint..

UPDATE on dryer sheets (fabric softener). I put one in the bottom of a large spray bottle. Fill with water. Spray bug splats, they dissolve quickly and wipe right off.

The system also works to "quick clean" the . And...it leaves your smelling nice and fresh.

Wow! You learn something new every day. Never would have experimented with "dryer sheets".
Gonna buy some soon and give it a try. Really like the idea of the spray bottle.

    And with no static cling!

I must say, I have to wonder what these sheets are doing to our skin (via whatever film they may be leaving on our clothes) if they can dissolve baked-on bugs, etc. I, in fact, read an article last winter about the toxicity of dryer sheets. Now I believe it.

I thought the OP wanted to know what everyone uses to get the bugs off after they've finished drinking the alcohol/water mix??

You might be interested to know that they tend to clog up the dryness sensors that are present on almost all dryers these days.
They leave an oily residue......on the clothes and inside the dryer drum too.

My spray bottle is filled with blue windshield washer fluid.
Does a respectable job and costs about a buck a gallon.

I've been using 210 for years. I keep a wet cloth in a zip lock bag and the 210 in the frunk. When the wet towel gets real dirty ai put that one in the wash and set up a clean one.

HOUSE HOLD PLEDGE somewhat prevents sticking, takes bugs off easily, and takes the "swirls" out of the W/S. I use Pledge on the entire tupper ware and W/S. Works great and is very inexpensive compared to all the other products and their so called claims. Try it you'll like it. I use it on Airplane, cars, motorcycles and all my toys. (Windshields and Body)

Someday I'm going to buy that company!

You don't say what year and model Spyder you are trying to protect but you say radiator so I assume you're tsalking about a V-Twin. Spyderpops may have something for you; check out his ad on this site. If you happen to have a 2014 or later RT, his KOTT (Keep Out The Trash) Grilles do a great job IMO.
