I'm pretty sure I have lost my mind. I've never driven anything but a car but the BF loves his motorcycle. I went out yesterday and bought a brand new 2016 Spyder Touring Limited. I think that's what you call it anyway. I'm going to go on Monday to get a permit but I was able to drive it around the parking lot at the dealership and loved it! So I've got lots to learn but I'm really excited to be doing this.

Hi Julie!
Question: Do you have any experience on ATVs or snowmobiles?
They feel pretty similar to the Spyders.
I love the color of your new Limited... , and here's to lots of happy "Miles & Smiles" for you and your boyfriend!
P.S. I've never actually "lost my mind...", but we've really had some games of "Hide & Seek" that never seem to end!
Yes, you did probably lose your mind, but on the other side you will be smiling a lot more in the future.
Another downside will take place with more mind loss as you discover the unlimited necessity of FARKLING!
Welcome aboard, please look in the forums for Newbie Dos and do nots.

No Bob, I have very, very little experience. I think I've ridden a snowmobile or ATV two or three time in my life and never in the last 10 years. So I'm really starting at ground zero. On the upside, I have no bad habits to unlearn! I actually had no intention of even buying one yesterday, I was just going to look at a used one they had but it was already sold by the time I got there. I've been thinking about a Spyder for a couple of years, but not seriously. Funny how it got serious fast! Lol. Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone on the forum.

I never rode a 2-wheel before buying my first Spyder. It changed my life. Love every minute I am riding. Love meeting new people. Enjoy
If you have questions, there is a lot of info on here. If you can't find it with a search just ask, someone will answer.

That's great to hear, JulieMarie.....welcome.......and don't forget to ask questions, no matter how silly and inconsequential they may appear to be to you. The Forum members on here are the most helpful of any I have found anywhere.

I could have written the same exact letter but four weeks earlier. Brought my 2016 RTS,same color, home and been waiting for better weather here in Wyoming to ride and learn. First thing I did was join this forum and found a lot of helpful information.I rode motorcycles but not for the last six years, recovering from back and neck fusions. I found hope here and by watching videos and seeing that spyder people come from a wide variety. I have uncertain feelings but I also look forward to learning and getting that feeling that comes with it at 67 years. ITS ALL GOOD
wow that is an awesome looking ride , and not having the experience of riding a cycle you have done well ! first , do not let B-F drive it , you might not get another chance ! ... { question , did the cycle shop ask about a cycle endorsement , when you made the purchase ? } I see you are about too do the cycle training good for your lady friend ... just find a long country road or a state park with a lane not soo much travel traffic , and learn the fundamentals .... hope too see photos of your adventures !

Sometimes you have to bust out of your comfort zone and say "what the hell." Otherwise, you're not living, your're just existing.

Look for and take a motorcycle safety course just as soon as you can! You'll learn a lot about being safe. And believe me, returning home all refreshed and relaxed from an incident free ride is a WHOLE lot more fun than coming home with scratches and breaks, or even just a frightening moment because of a riding error.
2014 Copper RTS

a little safe riding tip always leave a way out have an escape route and enjoy your bike I am or I will as soon as the weather co-operates in Ontario the spyder is different from two wheels but a lot of fun
Please read the owners manual { twice isn't a bad idea ]. Also, when turning, like skiing, press on the outside foot peg and bend your inside elbow ( lowering your center of gravity a few inches).Congratulations.
