F4 still best choice for an F3?
Has anyone found a better windscreen system than the F4? I don't want to spend that kind of money twice. From what I've read the Blue Ridge is out.

I have an RT with the F4 and could not be happier with it! Great shield and even better customer service

I ordered one yesterday. I'll post how the installation goes. I ordered it over the phone and was impressed by the customer service.

First you have to define "better", mn.......are you talking primarily about reducing helmet buffeting? If you are, then getting the right height and width for your particular requirements is paramount, regardless of the brand. Do you want to look through the screen, just over the screen, or have it low so you get a clean air windblast? Do you want some air around the side of the screen to give you some cool air in summer?
I was running a 25" F4 on my F3-L until I put a Daylong seat on, which lifted me nearly 2" and created buffeting. 25" is the tallest screen F4 make, so I bought the tallest Madstad, which was a little taller and had adjustable arms. Unfortunately, the Madstad airflow didn't work for me, so I removed the screen from the Madstad, drilled 4 holes in the F4 and installed it on the Madstad arms and it works a treat. I am 6'7" with long legs.
Screens are such a difficult item to get the exact coverage you want for your particular riding requirements and build. Personally, I couldn't go past the F4 for me, but others will recommend different brands as the best.
I hope this helps a bit.

I actually really love my tinted 25" F4 with the vent. For me, I would prefer a thicker, stronger one that does not flutter as much. But it's a small deal really. I have no air buffet problem with it.

I have the F3T with the F4 23" windshield and I love it. I am 6'5" and like to look over the top and the F4 tinted is perfect!

I love the performance of the F4 windshield. I have had them on 3 Harley's, 1 Goldwing and 4 different Spyders, RT, 2 F3S and an F3T. Unlike other windshields you only buy the F4 one time unlike the others that scratch and need to be replaced every year or so.

Ok, my 2 cents:
The F4 is scratch proof!
My Madstad is chipped and scratched, and Don is making me a F4 to fit. Thank you, Sir!
I scratched the living s**t out of my Calsci, just washing bugs off of it.
The stock windshield is soft, and scratched easily.
get enough rock chips, scratches, divots, dead bug splooge, and otherwise ruin the ability to see, and an F4 suddenly makes perfect sense! Scratch proof! The display runs steel wool over it! All day! NO SCRATCHES!
Have you ever regretted buying the very best? NOPE! Get an F4, and be done with it! JMHO, Joe

I just installed my CalSci last night so I will post in the next couple days how I like it. I have had many motorcycles with different windshields from lots of manufacturer's. As long as I was careful with cleaning I haven't had any problems with major scratching - which seems to be one of the big advantages to the F4. Of course you pay extra for that. The CalSci was a fair bit cheaper so we will see how well it lasts. I tend to flip my toys ever couple years and expect it will be fine till then.

So i think the wife and i are in the market for one too on our F3L. She will be riding it mainly and she is about 5'7. Im 5'9. Prefer to look over, not through. Maybe the 21"?
Im guessing the vents are for buffeting? Also wondering how the F4 in particular helps if at all with redirecting wind away from the hands. She will be taking on the highway to work about 15 miles each way so wind protection is important.
Thanks for any input.

I have an F4 on my F3 and LOVE it. Works and looks great, no issues at all! I had the MADSTAD but it was too small for the colder climate so I returned it, great customer service though. My thoughts.

F4 Custom
I just finished installing the 32" F4 windshield on my F3. Total time including removing the Blue Ridge was under ninety minutes. On that note, if anyone is running a Blue Ridge and wants a spare, they can have my old windshield if they pay shipping. It's in perfect condition, no scratches or dings. I'd just rather see someone getting use out of it rather than it just taking up space in my garage.

Mounted the F4 and find it to be a quality product that does a swell job of keeping the wind at bay. It is maybe too goid as now I have some exhaust smell issues. Will have to find a way to take care of that.

I tried three shields on my F3-s.
Shields are a highly personal thing. Everyone is a different height, torso lengths are different, your weight might define how low or high you sit in a seat or you may have a custom seat that changes your original riding height and position. Then we can change the posture of our riding by using the different BRP handlebars and foot peg position. Finally, your typical riding speed may be far different than somebody else here. Shields behave far differently for people who typically run back roads at 55 and under versus those on state routes running up to 65 and then guys like me who do spend time at 75-85 MPh in transit. So it is hard to go by other's opinions.
For example... I'm 6'2" with a 32 inseam (as if that is scientific in the grand scheme of this discussion) * I might have shrank a bit too.
Blue Ridge- Took the risk, paid the price. Blue Ridge made riding worse than with no shield at anything above 50 mph for me. Lots of head shake.
Guffanson(Spell?) - Some people liked this. Uses the existing Blue Ridge mounts. Looks nice. Anything near/over 65 Mph and I got a lot of head shake.
32" F4 Shield - Major improvement over 65 but still get slight head shake at 70 MPH+. F4 is nice and wide. Can't beat the quality of the shield. Mounting hardware is nice for mounting some RAM balls on. Mounting hardware should be texture powder coated though. My nose is level with top of shield on custom seat. If the F4 had the knurl along the top, I think it would be the perfect shield, but of course it does not.
So I bought this MRA X-Creen spoiler to clamp to the F4 to kick the air up at the top edge.
https://www.amazon.com/MRA-402506612...ds=mra+x-creen
It is a bolt through, but I bought the clamp kit to test it first. I'm able to adjust the X-Creen to pitch the air up at the top of the F4 and now I have less wind noise and no head shake at 75-85 MPH.
The X-Creen of course has it's own issues for me, but I'm going to redesign the polycarbonate and just reuse the X-Creen mounts and end up with a better setup...and probably bolt the X-Creen to the F4.
So there you have it. Again, I think the F4 is a great shield if you spend most of your time riding under 70 MPH and you are my height and have the 32". ***But head shake is a very bad thing and you can't and shouldn't ride for long like that.
Just wish the F4 had a knurl or that F4 sold an Auxillary wing for the top edge. I'll have to make my own.

HAND'S UP:
The only sure way of getting rid of bad habits is to create good ones.
AND, by the way, this will not happen on auto pilot.
It's time for a YOU-turn!!!
