Foam Grip Installation
Foam grips seemed like a good idea for my F3T...until I tried to install them. The instructions seem to indicate they would slip on but getting them over the raised edge seems impossible. Maybe there's a 'trick' to make it happen?
Thanks!

GRIPS
Spray water or Windex inside the grips. They will slide on much easier.

Or use hairspray, it'll be slippery at first and then stick.

Hand Sanitizer. Really slips great when installing, the alcohol content makes it evaporate when you're done. Really slop it on...

The instructions with my foam grips recommended hand sanitizer. I couldn't believe how easy they went on with it.

otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

for the hand sanitizer option. Worked great for me on several installs.

The instructions say use hand sanitizer. I installed mine using hand sanitizer slipped on with no problem.

+1 for hairspray. Been doing it that way since the 60's.

These things must come in sizes! These are not 'sliding' anywhere. Getting them over the rigid end cap would be a major accomplishment. I was thinking maybe you guys were using a hair dryer or some such?

Neal, I have seen some foam grips that have a smaller inside diameter That won't fit over Spyder Grips,
TRY ( Grab On Grip Covers ) They work well for me..Just Google that brand name

Neal, you don't need a hairdryer. Put some liquid soap or one of the other recommendations on your fingers and run it around the complete insides of the grips. They will slide over everything. If that does not work, Freebob may be onto your problem above.

+1 hand sanitizer worked for me. Use a very liberal amount, never to much just not enough. Don't be afraid to slop so much on the inside of them that they are dripping wet.
-
Air compressor,it expands them and they slide right on.
Put them on or off in 2 seconds with no mess and reusable.I don't use glue.Works real slick.
This is for the grips but same concept.

Yes, these are the Grip-On from Spyder Props.
The problem seems to be the outer ridge, of the rubber grip, being substantially larger than the body of the grip. I think the various lubricants will work fine if I could clear that larger ridge!! Do all the grips have this ridge?

I lost man points and read the directions, hair spray.

I 'just' had a terrible thought...are these grips supposed to be a 'replacement' grip? Meaning the rubber grips are supposed to be removed first??

As well as the soap/hand sanitiser etc. try:
Turning the part of the tube inside out, perhaps a couple of inches. put the rolled edge against the bar end relatively hard and put a bit of the tube over that wide lip so it's partly on. Then try rolling/pushing the inside out bit forward over the rest of the lip, do it bit by bit from that point where it already overlaps

I agree with most others, I got mine from TricLed. All I did was squirt a little dishwashing liquid on the inside if the grip, or put it on the bike grip, no matter, and they slide right on.
Regardless if it is dish soap or hand sanitizer, wait a day before you ride, they may turn on you. Easy, peezy, lemon squeezey!

.
And since the subject came up:
Do NOT use grip cement or other glue on foam grips.
It tends to dissolve the foam and makes a real mess.

Yes.
They install over the ridge. They will stretch enough to install.
