Default Modified Spyder for Right-handed controls only - update, some Right Foot mods too!

I did this mod for a customer who had limited mobility on his left hand. Ended up using the iTC throttle level from a Skidoo as it was a perfect interface. Customer was super happy and job looked OEM. Only issue I wished I could have fixed was having the left pod upside-down when brought over to the right but didn't have any other option.

Can you show more pictures and what you did, parts, ect? I have wanted to get a spyder but my left arm is paralyzed and I have thought about moving the left controls over like you did. But if I can learn what you did it would be very helpful!

my left arm is paralyzed also. I have 2 Spyder's both are manual shift. I have a bike shop and we are mainly geared to the Harley customers. I got new master cylinder from Brembo and moved the clutch to the right side. It's pretty easy for me to manage both the clutch and the throttle with my right hand. I have a brake light pressure switch in the clutch master so I can start the bike in reverse with the clutch pulled in on my 2011 RSS. It has over 60k miles on it and I bought it new. My 08 RS had nearly 70k on it when I sold it. My new ride is 2016 F3T. I love it the more I ride it. I have pics on my laptop if you are interested I can post them for you

Pushrod it it would be a good idea if you could post the pictures here as well
i know we have many disabled riders who want to go to Spyder ownership but are not sure what adaptions are available
Pictures would be helpful as many prospective owners will view this website to get the information needed
Either way thanks for posting your thread

Is the throttle on left now? Can throttle and shifter be on right side? I never had a Can Am before, been riding Harlies 30 years, then had a stroke left side bad, need all controls on the right side.

Can you please go into more depth on the right side conversion? I had a stroke and left arm and hand affected. I have 2015 F3 SE6, started trying to do the swap and got confused on how to make the throttle stay and what was needed to make the gear selector switch work...

I love it! We may have limitations, but if the need to keep on riding is strong enough, almost anything can help us do what we love. I love the look on others when they see me wobble and stagger to my Spyder, especially at my Drs. office.
    Ride in comfort,

Has anyone transferred the shifter assembly from the left side of the handlebar to the right side on a 2013 or newer Spyder?

I don't know if that would be practicable on the electronic shift. You could do it with the manual shift, maybe with something like the Pingle Shifter that many Harley riders use. Or if your left foot works ok you could put a clutch lever on the right.

It's for a friend of mine. We transferred the electronic shifter on his 2010. The shifter was upside down, but worked perfectly. He's purchasing a newer bike, but we're just not sure if it's doable with the new shifter style.

I distinctly remember reading about someone who has done this here on this forum! I will see if I can find it but if you use the search function and then the "advanced" option it usually returns what you need.... ;-)

    Hi,
I'm an above the knee amputee on the left side. I would prefer to still have a clutch and shift manually. Does anyone make a kit for moving the foot shifter from the left to the right side of the bike?
    I'm looking at Spyder F3's.

    Thanks!

... First off, Welcome to the Spyder Lovers Forum.
I can't remember if this modification has been done.
Or even a possible option. Hopefully someone will
    chime in on this project.

Sorry, I don't have any real information for you.

I built a manual shifter for a Harley Sportster that operated with a cross-over rod and a few simple levers to move the shifter from the left side to the right side and remain a foot operated shifter. The shifter was operated with my right toe, and the rear brake with my right heel. I have left side BK amputation. Converted Harley Sportster to a trike when no trikes were available from the dealerships at all and rode it for over 20 years. I had an 8 page step by step of the entire conversion process with pictures on the XL Forum, however the forum migrated to a different format. The text is still there, but the photos of the build did not survive the migration, so to whole thing is about useless to get any information on the conversion now.

Well crap. I can still put things together but I don't have those kind of fabricating skills. Thanks anyway for the reply Gwolf!

Why not simply use the paddle shifters on the left bar to shift manually, Postleg? It would be a cheaper, easier option. (Don’t forget your one and only brake pedal is already on the right)
