Any 2018 Rumors yet?
Besides color, it seems like they never make significant changes to the RT-Limited. Any 2018 improvements in the works? Anyone heard anything?

To early....
But there is a lot of wishful thinking and they are probably lurking here to see what we think should happen.....to bad they don't listen...

Considering that the 2017s have not been on the streets for all that long yet:

If anything, in regards to the RT, I would expect LED Headlights and Fog Lights, AND a factory installed belt tensioner / damper as factory installed.
A blessing would be that they have partnered with Dunlop or Bridgestone and we no longer get Kenda tires as oem or replacements!!!

Maybe have a painted dash board as an option. I am kind a partial to that idea. Here is a picture: dashboard on spyder14RT 004.jpg. It adds a pop of color to the dashboard.
Offer more colors choices in the RTS-SE6, and other spyder models.
Offer different colors other then Blue, white, Yellow.
Fix the DESS Issue.
Extend the B.E.S.T warranty more then 5 years.
Add GPS, to all spyder models. Deanna

My Triumph Trophy SE had...
XM radio, weather band radio that kicks in automatically when a weather alert is issued, Bluetooth, accurate tire pressure monitoring, connectors for GPS, I-Pods, etc., and fused Powerlet plugs for rider and passenger heated gear. All of which are nice and none of which would be very expensive to add as standard equipment especially when you buy them by the truckload like Can Am would. None of this stuff is necessary, but it is stuff most of us end up adding to our Spyders.

I agree with Navydad or at least run the wires in the wiring harness for the XM radio and other accesorys so it would just be a matter of plug & play

Having said that: my prediction is for a larger bike: longer, and with wider saddlebags. In fact; the tne entire rear storage area will be made more useful.
The top trunk will be wider and longer. The lid opening will finally make it possible to put a helmet in their.
The saddlebags will be longer and deeper. But they still won't open from the top!
We'll see a larger rider and passenger area. The seats will no longer interchange with prior model years.
Due to the longer wheelbase: we'll finally get shaft drive.
I like what your saying. Could we add a bigger engine. I am still partial to that 1800 six that powers the GW. Similar, would be nice. I hope they hurry up. I am running out of years and money. Don't know which is worse.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.
Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)
MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles
IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.

I think that the powerplant will remain the same for at least several more years...
It's only had four years of service in this configuration (so far!)

I haven't had the DESS issue; but a signifigant % of owners have. I'm hoping if BRP extends the BEST warranty in the near future, they will allow those still under warranty to buy in.

Pretty certain the DES issues are kind of resolved as the 2016 series and now 2017 series have the latest updates and these have been reversed part numbered to update 15 and 14s as needed.

PMK, Thanks for the update. Wait and see if anyone who has a 2016, or a 2017 if they get the dess code. I hope they don't. Deanna

I'm not sure how it would look or perform on a Spyder. BMW has the K1600GTL Exclusive, but it's engine configuration may not be suitable for the Spyder. And if you're not happy with the smaller 1800cc, six cylinder opposed, Gold Wing engine, there's always the engine from the Triumph Rocket 3. A 2200cc, inline, three cylinder, liquid cooled engine. My wife and I love our 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-SE5, but we know we'd be happier yet with the 1330cc, RT Limited.

Would like to see electric
I have an electric car. Superior to a car with an internal combustion engine in every measurable way but one - time it takes to recharge. With that said I have seen the video of the all-electric spyder under development, but range is only 105 miles. So for now I think a hybrid version is more prudent, but they would have to make it larger to also accommodate the electric motor and small battery, which I am ok with.

Had this discussion with my buddy who has a 2014 RT Ltd. a few months back about the next gen. We did a bit of star gazing and came up with:
- Built in GPS, XM, Weather, Apple Car Play with a docking station somewhere to be hidden
- Controls to control bluetooth like on vehicles on the handlebars, accept calls, etc which will also appear on the display etc.
- Tire pressure sensors
- Backup and front parking sensors
- Automatic slow down when getting too close to vehicles on road
- Side mirror proximity warning sensors for blindspots
- Heated seat and passenger seat
- Other modes e.g. sport, rain/slick, safe
- 5 year bumper to bumper warranty including oil changes
- Turbo?????
- Wider tires
- Air bags
- More ergonomics like the F3 foot adjustment etc.
- LED lights all around
- Remote start with convenience lights on ground when approaching at night
- Auto bright for headlights
- Get rid of the safety ECO hold before starting
I think we had too many whiskeys that night dreaming up all these options.....
Ride it like you stole it!

All of the above suggestions are great, but I have always wondered why, if buying the top of the line RT Ltd, the tri-axis handle bars are not standard from the factory? I think they should be on future models. How much actual cost would they add to the bike if added at the factory?
