Default Make sure I understand - Radio talk

Got an MP3 player attached to the female 3.5 audio in the truck, I could only adjust the volume from the handlebars.

Is there a player that you can attach to that same 3.5 cable that you can totally control from the drivers position, adjust volume, move forward in the song listing, etc,etc ?

Has anyone put a bluetooth adapter on that 3.5 line and been able to control MP3 player mounted on handle bar?
Watched Lamonster's video and it says you still need an RT cable to the radio? Plus If that is the route I want to go, is there an MP3 player that doesn't have to be turned on and off?

2016 RT-S is my weapon of choice

    Thanks, Good Morning from IOWA

I went to Walmart and picked up a 6' auxiliary cable, plugged into the trunk with adapter, ran wire under panels to handlebars and connected a XM radio. Works great. Not sure if a bluetooth will work being in the trunk, maybe too much obstruction for phones to connect.

    Default Nyrius Bluetooth

There are several companies that make one of these if you can't find this one:
    https://www.amazon.com/Nyrius-Blueto...rius+bluetooth

This is a Bluetooth device that fits on the iPod 32 pin connector, but will communicate with any BlueTooth phone. You can control music selection on your phone in front without a physical cable running to the back.

I tried a bluetooth device and connected the same way but my phone wouldn't stay connected due to the obstructions to the trunk (me, passenger, back of seat) So I just ran a cable and no more problems.

Yeah, Kredab should be able to do that. I forgot about the newer models having extra connections. Us older RT's had to become a little more savvy to have more adaptability, lol. Man I wish mine had been that simple

That is correct - I have an iPod Mini in my trunk and I can select songs and playlists, and I can forward to the next or previous song using the handlebar controls.

    Default Helmet Speakers

I found the speakers on the RT worthless at speed, I have a Sena S20 communicator and I replaced the stock speaker with

ASUS XSound 3 High Definition Helmet Speakers

They are expensive @119.00 but they do the job and the fidelity is pretty dam good.

I'm not sure if I understand. Are you trying to play music differently than you already can? I have the same RTS that you have & just plugging a flash drive formatted in FAT32 will allow you to play anything you have on the drive. Check your owners manual for info on this.

I tried a cheap MP3 player into the 3.5 mm plug in the trunk, all I can control is the volume from the drivers seat. What you are saying is that you are plugged into the usb port and you have full control ? so maybe the key is the usb port? I will try plugging flashdrive in to see if I can control from driver seat.......Thanks for the post

A USB flashdrive won't work - the port is designed to work exclusively with the Apple iPod/iPad/iPhone communication protocols. If you use the stereo jack it only receives the analog music signal but there is no mechanism to Next/Previous/Playlist etc. Even on the Apple connector the port won't let you select whether to play a playlist randomly, that has to be selected on the Apple device itself.

    Sorry,
but wrong information. The OP has a 2016 with USB ports, not the old apple connector. A standard flash drive loaded with MP3 files works great on 2016 and newer RT and F3 models that have factory radios.

    Default Baffled

Ok, for some reason I cannot get the USB to work, it says "no files". If anyone has ideas here I will take them. I have one USB that I bought with a KISS concert on it and that works fine.
    I'm baffled on this one.

My 20 year old son couldn't figure it out checked format and all.

Took old iPhone loaded it and I have complete control of it from the handlebars

So are you saying the USB port works and one USB stick works but the other USB stick doesn't? If so, then that of course is more a computer type problem and not a Spyder problem. Time for a hard drive/memory stick diagnostic program like WinHex.

Check re owners manual and see if there a capacity restriction on the flash drive. My car won't accept anything larger than an 8 gb and must be formatted in fat32. I would check it myself but I have a 2015 without USB. Good Luck!

I have one flash drive that I bought at a KISS show of the concert I just seen(cool huh) that flashdrive works perfectly in the Spyder(1gb). I loaded a 4gb flashdrive at home and kept saying "no files" on the screen, I do know that the songs on my made flashdrive were in FAT32, just like on the boughten drive.

Could it be the size of the drive ? (4gb is small by today standards)

My music problem is fixed, I used on old iphone 5c loaded it up and we are good to go.....
