    Default Better Seating?

Got a 2015 RT Ltd. and LOVE IT!! The seat gets uncomfortable after a couple hours as others have complained. Not interested at this point in investing $800-$1500 for an "Ultimate Seat" or others of that caliber. Wondering if anyone here had any suggestions for a "Pad" of some sort that would give at least a little more comfort....THANKS!!!

Try an "Air Hawk". There are also other options that will be posted by others.

Agree about the AirHawk and Sheepskin , But then that como is nice for short rides 300 + or - But if your going to put serious miles on in a day (500 - 700 + ) then in my opinion a Russel is the way to go again (4th seat to be made April 4th)

You can do airhawk air cushion, saddleman gel pads, bead pads, sheepskin pads or any combo thereof depending on whether you like firm support or soft. Unfortunately theres nothing like a good quality custom seat from ultimate, mustang, corbin or russell. Expensive but worth it long term.

    Default Better Seating

Might give Motorcycle Dave a call (site sponsor) and see what he can do for you.

If and when you get tired of messing with it all, a Russel Day Long seat is worth the investment.

Short of that there is also bead rider seats, which work well in the rain, no matter what type seat you have to keep you up out of the pooling water and dry.

As mentioned, the OEM seating from BRP kind of sucks. I have replaced five out of five. My current rides (2011 and 2014 RT's) both have BRP Comfort seats. They are a bit more supportive with the lumbar built in. The driver is also setback about two additional inches. For about $600--not to bad in the pricing department. I can go all day--on a good day--with the Comfort, compared to an hour or so on the OEM.

I am also an Air Hawk and a sheepskin pad user. When I have back and hip issues, they would be added to the mix. With the hip fixed, am hoping those days are over.

the Airhawk R and it fits the RT very well. I have used my Airhawk on more than one 700+ mile day and it does the job for me.

For me the air-hawk is great but it was not all I needed to be able to make long rides.

I spent $400 on a custom seat on my Honda ST 1300, but the greatest improvement I ever made was a beaded cover!

Do you use one of these on your Spyder? Even though I have an Ultimate seat, I still need help. I tried an Air Hawk, but it offered no improvement despite experimenting with the air pressure.

That's a great Blog, Bob, but I would add one thing regarding the seating. It is NOT necessary to buy a Corbin or an Ultimate or a Mustang to see if it fits, and return it if it doesn't. If you buy a Russell DayLong, they will custom build the seat to your body shape and seating position based on your own photos (or you can ride in), and will modify it if it doesn't work for you. If it still doesn't work after mods, you can return it. I agree completely with the Airhawk as the cheaper, quicker option, but then you still have to worry about pressures, thieves, etc etc. if you want an all in one solution, it's hard to go past a DayLong.

Default sore butt after riding an hour

Air Hawk will put a band aid on the problem, but an Ultimate seat will completely solve it..............................

I bought an air hawk (now for sale 75.00 plus shipping), used it for several trips, about doubled my saddle time, but I still had problems....two of my buddies broke down and bought a Ultimate seat and said they never had another problem.... I decided to try an ultimate, they give a 14 day trial period, I put about 10 hours on mine, 2 the first day, and 8 the next. I have been riding for 52 years, and I never experienced the comfort i get from my new Ultimate..... Do what you can afford, but if you want total comfort, get an Ultimate...

......and I know 2 people beside myself who found the Ultimate only as comfortable as the stock seat, Ramrover. That is NOT disparaging Ultimate, as they make a great seat, but it all depends on leg length, weight, body shape and position etc as to whether a stock seat (be it BRP, Ultimate, Mustang, Corbin etc) will work for you in particular. An Ultimate seat may work brilliantly for YOU, but that does not guarantee that it will work for rladuke, or others.

Yes I do use one, but I have an F3s now (previously used it on my Goldwing). My wife used one on her RT until she got an Ultimate seat last year at Spyderfest, she says she don't need it now. Very funny story from the Goldwing days, seems lots of folks were using them (that's how I discovered them) and one fella looked at every Walmart he went to with no luck. One day while on a ride quite a distance from home, he found them at a Walmart he was at. Ended up buying all they had in stock like 15 of them, went out to the bike to leave and said "WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING"!!! You have any idea how much room 15 of those things take up...and his wife was riding with him too !!! Think he ended up either returning some of them or had them shipped to his home-can't remember.
