Default F3 Clutch updated to vacuum assist.....

Well, I did it this weekend... installed the F3 upgrade clutch 'kit' to get the vacuum assist.
I have the installation instructions from BRP in a PDF format... going to doctor them up a little and then will share with anyone who wants them.
It's a simple install, but also a pain in the ass. Getting the hose that runs from the clutch cover to the intake snorkel off the intake was a royal pain.... and I ended up breaking the 'nipple' off.

I've got some pics I'll share when I get some time. Instead of trying to epoxy the 'nipple' back on I decided to plug the hole and then just drill a new one into the snorkel. I then used a 1/4" threaded to barbed PVC fitting and epoxied it to the snorkel. At least I think it was 1/4"...it was small for sure. This gave it better stability since the threaded part went inside of the snorkel. The hose went on the barbed side just fine.
The hoses are barely long enough to reach to the other side where they have you put the solenoid, which I ended up zip tying instead of mounting with screws.. it's just too damn tight to do much work in there!

One thing the instructions leave out is which way to have the arrow on the check valve point. It should point TOWARDS the air intake (away from the solenoid).

Anyhow.. it works like a charm and my carpal tunnel will be happier now!

While I had it apart I also put in Lamont's LED headlight bulbs and his LED foglight kit. Both were super simple installs and well made products.

If anyone wants a copy of the PDF install for the clutch, send me a PM with your email and I'll forward it over. I'll also try and see how to post a PDF out here.

Yep I tried out a Spyder Manual Demo and could not believe how hard the clutch was to pull. Made my decision right away that I wanted the paddle shifter. I don't see any advantage owning the manual since the auto can always shift faster anyway. But I know some people just love them and would never own anything else.

The Vacuum Clutch assist is a Must for the 2015-I was Lucky my dealer got it authorized under warranty- That's when its good to have a long time dealer you do a lot of business with over the years! I think he pleaded that " I was a decrepit old man and it was causing a safety hazard for me- Decrepit Old man_ to Hold the clutch in??
    Anyway it was FREE

I know that I feel more like I am part of the bike with the manual, especially in the twisties. My truck is an auto. I steer and hit the gas and brakes. Cocaine however, I steer, Im hitting the clutch, I shift and im on and off the throttle. Sometimes I dont bother with the clutch just to have fun. Add in a fast twisty road, and some Disturbed and its like poetry in motion. Much more involved and much more fun. IMHO

That pretty much depends on how you feel about the clutch-pull effort right now...
If you can't pull in clutch lever without it; how much is it worth to you?

After some consideration and talking with #1battchief .... to avoid the biggest headache of this project which is removing the hose at the intake snorkel, I would recommend getting an extra hose, the 430 mm 420260285.
This way you can just cut the hose that runs from the clutch cover to the intake snorkel and extend each side by using a barbed PVC connector like the one shown in this photo.

This will make the project MUCH easier....s-l300.jpg

I am looking at buying a 2015 F3-S. Is the vacuum assist already on the F3-S or is it something I should be looking at before I buy it?

If I had to do it over again I would have gotten the Paddle shift BUT the vacuum assist makes it MUCH easier BUT not as easy as my 2012 RT sm5?

The F3-S comes in both SM and SE transmissions.

Considering the price for the parts on the vacuum clutch kit is about $175 compared to $2,500 extra for an SE.....
If you're not mechanically inclined I would have your dealer do the install.
It's not bad, but they have some bad instructions and there's a few things that can be done differently to make it much easier.

I'm sorry, but that is incorrect information. The F3,F3-S, and F3T are all available with a manual or semi-auto.

I personally love the my manual transmission on my F3. I have had a chance to spend quite a of time on a F3 with a sem-auto and I feel much more engaged with the manual. I enjoy the sportiness and the feeling of skill involved in a good shift. I also think I can make a smoother shift when riding aggressively in the higher rpm range.

    Your just wrong on this!

    Read this: http://can-am.brp.com/content/dam/ca...heet%20EN_.pdf

    I have personally driven 3 2015 F3-S's. Two with a manual trans(SM6) and one with a semi-auto(SE6)!!!

You might want to let my dealer know he can't sell this, because it doesn't exist!!!
