Default VIRGINIA / WEST VIRGINIA RIDE

The boss and I want to run a 4 day trip in late April in the Virginia / W Virginia area. We live near Knoxville, are going to end up that 4th day in Bristol for the Race. Does anyone have any good ideas of good roads, sights, places not to miss, ETC. ? We are looking for ideas...we can run 5 or 6 hours a day I think comfortably soooooo, Spyder friends......any ideas ? Oh, and also places/roads to avoid !

    Thanks in advance !

most roads east of I-79 are good riding. haven't really rode west of 79 much. some really nice riding roads in the southern part of the west Virginia. rts 3 and 10 and a slew of others. Elkins area is all good. Seneca rocks area. Canaan valley area. the town of Davis has a café named Siriannis, outstanding pizza and steak hogies. Oh, and Blackwater Falls is nice. it is just a couple min ride out of Davis. all mountain riding.

Look around Bluemont, VA/Harpers Ferry, WV area. Lots of wineries, breweries, Bed and Breakfasts, history and great back roads. Skyline drive is a must. Let me know when your here and I will join you for a day.

Default RT 160 at Black Mountain

A "don't miss" route is 160 between Appalachia, Virginia & Cumberland, Kentucky. I have been through there a couple of times & would go out of my way to do it again. It is not busy & has everything you need.

    Default VA/WV riding

If you go through to Virginia, Skyline Drive is nice. If you go into Winchester and come up to near Moorfield, WV, you can hit the Corridor H, it's a nice ride up, not a lot of traffic, and come up and into Davis area and near Blackwater falls and all that. Depending on what you want to see and do will determine where you will want to go. For scenery, that's a nice ride. Do it often with my family. Can do Blackwater down I68 to Coopers Rocks if you wanna see that. Harpers Ferry is a nice ride.

If you are in the Seneca Rocks area, and are science minded, check out Green Bank, WV.
