Default New F3T Owner - Farkle Questions

Well I pulled the pin and got a replacement for the ST Ltd I sold early last fall. It is a 2016 Pearl White F3T SE6 /w audio. I will have to wait a couple months to pick it up from the dealership as we are in a deep freeze and the dealer is 3 hours away. In the mean time it is time to start to order farkles to make the bike "mine"

First thing is I am likely going to add is floorboards and like the looks and price of the web boards. In particular I like the Premium LineX F3 Board. Is anyone using this newer board from them? How long is it - the web site says it is longer than their standard F3 board but it doesn't say how much longer. I have emailed a couple times but haven't heard back from them yet. Also it is not clear to me what a "open web vs closed web" option looks like as I can't seem to figure that out on their site?

Has anyone installed aftermarket heated grips vs the OEM? Suggested brands and results?

Windshield will also be a required as I am 6'4" and expect the oem shield to be less than adequate. I have seen lots of posts on the topic so that is very useful.

Has anyone installed the OEM rack from BRP or what are people's thoughts on the baker built rack? Will it work with the smoothsyder backrest? I will ride 99% of the time solo as my wife is not comfortable on a bike so having the adjustability would be nice. But maybe I would be better served to just get a driver back rest like the Lamonster Ultimate F3 Backrest - how do people like that?

Given that the storage is relatively small is there a popular option for a strap on tail type bag people can recommend?

Thank you for your comments. I am sure there will be many more questions to come.

Congratulations on your new ryde!!!! I have the F3-L and I just love it soooo much!! I also had an St-L previously and it is night and day difference. I couldn't be any happier with my F3.

As far as the storage goes I really wanted the new trunk BRP is coming out with but I found an alternative that works great for me and is a whole lot cheaper. It is a Saddlemen bag. It is really versatile. You can have it like I have it on mine....(see signature picture) on the back seat and it has a built in adjustable back rest. Or if you want a passenger you could get the baker built rack put the luggage bag on that. The passenger then also has a backrest with this set up. I paid about $160.00 for the bag and it has a million compartments and some even zip out to expand. There are straps and hooks so you can configure this about anyway you want to attach it to your bike. Once you get it strapped down you can't budge it. The only thing is with the bag being on the rack then you are without a back rest.

I did a Youtube search and there are a few good videos showing exactly what this bag has/does. That sold me. I needed a good bag for our trip to the Red Rocks rally this past year and it was perfect. I got the larger one and I'm glad I did. I use it all the time. When I get to work I put my chaps and leather coat in there, my helmet in my frunk and I still have room left. Like I said it works great for me and the price was very affordable. Hope this helps. I went with the Baker Built rack with a Shad 50 mounted on it and the brake light option. Works great

Have a good look at Lamonster RIP boards. I am 6'7" and they work very well for me. They are very long and give you a better angle on accessing the brake pedal. The windshield is a personal choice, but the 25" F4 is very good for me on the F3-L and their site has plenty of info on how to measure to ensure you get exactly the right height to suit you.

    Default Baker Luggage Rack

Seen you wondered if the Baker Luggage Rack would work with your smooth spyder backrest the answer is Yes. Our luggage rack is fully compatible with the smooth spyder backrest. Our rack is black powder coated giving it a nice look, along with being super easy installation (less than 10 minutes) requires no drilling. We also have Hand Wings and Leg Wings for the F3T that people just love. These wings direct/deflect the air towards or away from rider and co-rider keeping you cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter (deflects rain away keeping you dryer too) if you have any questions for us you can email us at sales@bakerbuiltairwings.com you can also find us online at www.bakerbuiltairwings.com Thank you for your time and interest in our products.

    Default Congrats on your F3

I love mine. I do not have a rack, but last year at Spyderfest I looked a lot at the Baker Wing Guy rack. It was impressive, but because I have a trailer for any travels beyond a few days out decided not for me. I use a Firstgear 100% waterproof bag that I strap to passenger seat when on more than overnight and less than 5 day trip...more than that I hook up trailer....

After mounting my must have cup holders...my next most important farkle are safety lights from TricLED (a site sponsor)....Reggy and Cindy, owners have top of the line excellent LED's and other specialty items for all Spyders.

I'm very happy with the stock (short) windshield but I do need to put my helmet face shield down or there is more wind buffeting than I like with it open....

I am very comfortable and satisfied with the stock floorboards....did add TricLED's larger brake pedal...and because I was not impressed with my mounting got Lamonster Garage middle peg...as easy now to mount as with my RT that had Sealfloorboards......check out the Seals floor boards for the F3...

OK I'm like you, snowed in and a good 6 weeks away from even getting out of my driveway with Spyder....but I'm sure doing a lot of map drooling!!!

Are you coming to BRP Homecoming in Valcourt? See you on the road. Ryde ON....

Default Saddlemen BR3400 - As back rest

Cindy I am wondering how stable the bag is when strapped to the back seat in terms of when you lean back into it. Do you find it gives you much support or does it tend to lean away from you so that feature is more a marketing gimmick than a real benefit. I like the looks of the bag and wondering with it if I could avoid buying a back rest.
