I understand when instructions translated from Chinese or Japanese suck, but the last I heard, Canada is an English speaking country, so I expect better from Canadian engineers even if they are from Quebec. On the other hand, the mounts are outstanding and the bags are great. They make the bike a little hippier than I would like, but they are still narrower than the handlebars.
Unfortunately they are very likely written byt the engineers. Always the worst people to write instructions, especially for non-engineers.

Yes they are....but if the lights are used,your would have to find some kind of quick disconnect plug in to make them removable.

Very easy to do. I used waterproof QDs on my wife's. Works great!
