Default Trunk replacement shock on RT trunk

Anyone know of an equivalent replacement shock for the trunk on a RT 2010 & up? Don't want to rig something up, I want to replace it with another equivalent one.

I am in contact with some manufacturers, and trying to find something, but nothing solid yet. Suspa wants $95, Cheapcycle.com wants $59.99, and Can Am the same, but want cheaper. Have a manufacturer that will do it for $42.61, but still feel that is too high.

I found off of a web site that someone listed. I also an running the dual struts now. I would recommend the dual strut if you keep anything in the lid behind the nets or if you use a rack. Ill see if I can find the thread.

Finless figured out a really cheap way to improve things.

If you simply drill a new mounting hole for the lower stud, it'll hold it up, and it's free. Drill a new hole 3/4" above the existing hole. It holds the lid up more vertical and lets the strut remain fully extended where it's strongest. Worked for me. I don't use a net, but I do have a rack on the lid.

Are you using the stock size struts? I would live to be able to use the 2 strut set I have now and be able to raise the lid higher.

    Default Dual Struts for Trunk?

Is this a diy mod? If so, can you tell me part numbers and where to order one? Please? Thanks

Here's a post that says there is a guaranteed BRP replacement for $44.00

I just did the mod that Mazo (Post #5) did. It worked great.

I had installed a Show Chrome luggage rack that caused the trunk lid not to stay up. This mod was just enough to hold the lid up again. You will not be able to add much more weight, but for now it is fine. Cheap and Clean fix.

Fixed ur up. Bought an identical shock that is better than the OEM, and works better. Here's a pic of both shocks, along with reciept, address & phone number of the place I bought it and the price of $44. Also included pic of final installation.TrunkShock1.jpgTrunkShock2.jpg

Where did you get the mounting hardware?

What mounting hardware? All I did was take the old one off of the ball joint at the bottom, then took bolt & nut from the trunk lid end (watch you don't loose the spacer that goes into the eyelet. The only hardware was the shock itself, and that is all the info on the receipt underneath it.

Finless maybe thought, as I did, that you were mounting a second strut. In that case, additional mounting hardware would be needed.

No, but I should have a post with a video, where I replaced the old seat (stock RT Limited) with an exact one, but more pressure. Now all I do is turn the key to raise the seat, and it pops up all by itself. The thread also show the receipt and company that I bought it from, I think $19 or something cheap. I will look for the thread and post it here if I can find it.
