Just wanted to say howdy to everyone and thank the admins for this website. My wife just bought me a 2012 Spyder RT SE5 for Christmas. It's got 13,000 miles on it.

Thanks, everyone.
Well, went to unload it from the trailer and found out the battery is original and DOA. Figures. Taking it over to Broadway Powersports in Tyler to get a new battery installed. Haven't even got the extended factory warranty transfer completed yet, but batteries aren't covered anyway (per svc dept at BP). So feeding the beast begins before I ever got it off the trailer.
So there's my first question: in East Texas, where does everyone like to get their worked on, buy parts, etc.?

and You will enjoy your Spyder very much,I know I have.Mine is also a 2012 RTL. You will get a lot of questions answered and gain valuable insight into your Spyder by reading the Do's and Don'ts section at the first of the website. I think someone already posted the address. Lots of good vendors on the home page Since you have a VTwin and an SE remember to keep the revs up,don't short shift it. Go to at least 5000 before shifting and you will enjoy the ride a lot more.

Hi Musashi,
Re: New Spyder Owner and Forum Member
Back when I was still a working guy, I had this on the wall of my office:
There are no dumb questions; however, there are stupid mistakes.
This is great site; in spite of some of the characters here.
Re: My wife just bought me a 2012 Spyder RT SE5 for Christmas.
Now, that woman is a keeper.
Enjoy the Spyder and this site, and welcome to the party,

I'm sure I'll have a lot of annoying questions.
I was in Mineola last week looking at property to buy for an upcoming move to your area. It is between Mineola and Terrell, haven't decided for sure yet.

Many times in an ongoing thread members will ask a different question and it gets overlooked. As most likely the case here. However if you post in the Texas chapter the question as to where to get work done, you will get a better answer hopefully. Here is a link to that section, which also lists dealershttp://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/f...y.php?58-Texas
BTW I had my dealership add a battery Tender plug extension on my 2010 RTS and I hook it up all the time right under the seat, Not sure if the battery on the 2012's is in the same place.
As for buying parts, many here do upgrades with 3rd brake lights or suspension etc from vendors here on the forum. Even adding floorboards is a big plus. Enjoy everything spyderlovers has to offer
Hope this helps,
