    Default Will it "fit"

Needing to get my new (to me) RS and have to trailer it. Uhaul has a open top utility trailer with a 4'9" width ramp. Based on specs the RS is 4.943 wide.
I do not want to drive 2 hours and find that I can't get it on the trailer and I do not want a "crash course" on disassembly in the field.
Anyone know if it will fit for sure??
    thnx

This is probably just too close for comfort...
My guess, is that it wouldn't fit. It would be best if you rented or borrowed a wider trailer.
    Good Luck!

U rent its arent wide enough.
Long ago and far away I tried that approach.
Thankfully with the bike & tape measure in hand with me.
They may have a ox truck that wi do.
Or if you have a smaller no name kind of place that rents the type you can buy at lowes erc.

It will not fit. 4.943' wide is 4'-11 5/16". That's over 2" wider than your trailer.

Not only will the width be an issue you need to mind the clearance. If the ramp is too steep the nose will hit before the wheels will. The other issue is once you get the front wheels on the trailer with the back wheel on the ramp you may bottom out the bike on the lip of the trailer. You need a low trailer and or long ramps.

Good Luck and let us know how you do.

Or back the trailer up to a small rise, often even a driveway that is angled will work to level out the trailer ramp.

Also need to take in account that the front rims sticks out farther than the wheel base.

Default EASY FIX FOR TOO SHORT RAMP/S

If the trailer has ONE axel ..... you can usually raise the Tongue which will angle the entire bed, so it's similar to the ramp.......... drive Spyder onto trailer until rear wheel is off the ramp...... lower the tongue onto the ball and lock it down, .....finish loading the Spyder .............. of course make sure the Spyder will fit before you start .... Default Why risk it....

Look a bit more and find one that gives you more room. You do not want to find out on the road that things are getting torn up or not holding up as they should. Like a shoe that fits....but you can't walk in it far....

    Default Trailer your Spyder

You need a 6 ft. wide (inside width) at least 10 ft. long just to haul your spyder on! If you are carrying a trailer also, you need dual axle 16 ft trailer to haul with! I had my trailer built to my specs and it works good, except as stated in previous thread, your front of your Spyder will hit your tail gate before front wheels get to the gate! I cut some 2x4 boards in 24 inch lengths, and I lay them on ground or concrete so my front wheels get on them first, lifting up the front end and then I can drive on trailer! I also had trailer build with a low swung axle and 14 inch tires to make it lower to the ground!

It's probably still better to just ride the bike home!
...Depending on where you are in "Joisee"!

    What exit??

I did that when I purchased my 2012 RSS. It was about 200 miles to get home. Now, if I did not have any experience on a spyder before, I would be a little hesitant. I would still probably do it, but I would be sure to take lower traffic roads home, and be sure to stay alert. There is a learning curve to these things.

I had zero miles on a Spyder, but half a million on two wheel bikes. It was interesting, but I figured it out pretty fast. I read the dos and do nots here first.
