I sprayed oil on mine when it did that on my 2012 rts . Push lid back down and let it set for awhile and it was ok then . Now i spray it with oil every few months.

To get to the bulb on my 2012 RTS take a flat blade screwdriver and push the cover to the rear of the bike and it comes right out so can get to the bulb

You dont need a lot most all motels have washer and dryers in them . A lot easier than trying to pack a lot.
