I agree with all this. I had a similar problem with a BMW R1100GS, replaced the gearbox and did a further 40,000 miles [91,000 in total, sold it at 95,000 miles]. I'm glad I kept the bike so long.

I am moving back to Yorkshire from Portugal next spring and will be riding my F3-S, loaded well up. Can anyone tell me the best place to get a Spyder serviced in the North of England?
Thanks for the replies, folks.
I have Shad panniers on my F3-S. They are great bags and look good in situ.
It doesn't need adjusting. I was asking whether parking with it on puts strain on the parking brake motor as a number have failed, or so I have read.
Has anyone on here had one of these fail? Particularly 2018 and 2019 models. Is it a good idea to leave the bike parked in your garage without the parking brake being engaged? This was suggested to...
Having done over 260,000 miles on two-wheelers, I have been surprised by how sporty my F3-S feels. It must be a match for an MT-07/SV650 etc.
Your set-up is the same as mine. I got a deal when buying my 2019 F3-S new from Angel Pilot in Portimao, Portugal. Two BRP backrests and the Shad bags sorced from Shad, not Can-Am. I think they are...
Just out of interest, what didn't you like about the Harley Freewheeler?
I ride an F3-S in one country, but I also live elsewhere for part of the year. I was considering a Ryker Rally for there. Are these machines reliable, please?
Thanks for the replies. I am going to buy one. The small lockable storage compartment will be very useful. Plus they look good.
Good news, OK-DZ9R. I am assuming it is compatible with BRP rider's backrest.
I wonder if there was a problem with some of the early ECUs.
Thanks, Gwolf, but given the seat only fastens on one side and the Seat cowl must do too, I was wondering how rattly it was. That's what I meant by loose.
roobus, how many miles has your F3 done?
The only thing I don't like about my F3-S is how the rear seat only fastens on in one place. For such an expensive bike, this is ridiculous. I'm sure others agree. I would like to fit the Mono Seat...
I actually live across the border in Portugal, but I'll take a few snaps of the stunning southwest Portuguese coastline and countryside. For the first day in as long as I can remember, it's cloudy on...
Ah! Success. Doubly so. This was after I'd ploughed (almost literally) through a sea of mud in a Spanish town near Murcia which had been devastated by the worst floods to hit Spain in 140 years. More...
I'll have another go.176269176269
Kriega make one that will fit just about any tank. It will take their luggage cubes: 5, 10, 20 litres.
Hs anyone fitted one to an F3-S? If so, which make?
MakoShark2: Indeed. I like it so much I am going to sell my Yamaha MT-01 and my Buell XB12X (I have interested people for both bikes in the Lagos area). I just don't want to ride those two now. Weird...
I picked up my F3-S new a month ago and so far have done over 2,500 miles. I absolutely love it to the extent that I am selling my two two-wheeled bikes. Here is a photo of my mount after I had...
Completely agree. Mesh gear is superb.
I still wear protective pants but not all the time. On tour I wear my Resurgence New Wave Jeans. I bought them for riding my two-wheeler but now I only use the F3-S. So Canadian pants on a Canadian...
MrBones, wow! 86 and still riding. Well done, sir!
Just done 3,500 km around Spain on my new F3-S. It was hot in the south. Not once did I feel any heat come off the engine.
Thanks. I'll have a look in mine.
I won't be switching to car tyres.
Thanks.
