I haven't heard much about the Hotsprings event. Daniel felt that it went well so the lack of feedback is surprising.

Just to clear things up on this. I didn't take what Gwolf said as personal. His post was generic and so was mine. We both wish there were more good service departments out there. The Spyder and their...
True if all goes well. But it is not unusual for the front calipers to take more than finger pressure to push them back into the caliper. Needle nose pliers can work on the rear caliper if the piston...
The bottom line is, most mechanics do not like working on the Spyder. It is more difficult and, in many ways, a one of a kind machine. It's almost like they engineered it to be hard to work on.

We use Amsoil.
I would check A-Arm bushings. Have they ever been lubed? The usual answer is 'No, I didn't even know they could be lubed'. And they aren't easy to get to.
If they have not been lubed there is a...
Hmmm... I don't know about that. Good move to document it. Especially the video with sound. I can't say that I've ever heard that sound before coming from a Ryker. And we've worked on many. I'm going...
OUCH!!! :yikes:
I appreciate the kind words. But I'm just another voice. One more opinion to add to the stack. No one knows it all and there are a good number of smart people on this forum. I'm just glad I can help...
It's a learning process. But if you hang in there, you'll get the hang of it and should get satisfying results.
I agree with Peter. Do what you have to and get the OEM working. It may be nothing serious at all.
Because the old models had no provision for a cruise control which cut options. Whereas the newer models do. I'd certainly go with the OEM if that is available at any kind of reasonable price. Though...
I would check for an oil leak onto a hot surface. However, you should check the CVT air filter often. They can get clogged quickly. If that happens the belt will overheat and you'll need a new one in...
Never attempt to make a belt adjustment by loosening the adjuster. You'll fail every time. Make all adjustments in the clockwise, tightening direction so that you get positive movement of the axle....
Blended oil is a marketing gimmick (in my opinion). It is 90% cheap, regular mineral oil with a meager 10% synthetic. Just go 100% synthetic and get 100% of the good stuff. Also, I believe a 10w 40...
Typically, if you've worn your pads down enough to require replacement, you have added brake fluid to the reservoir. When you compress the caliper pistons, this added fluid in the system returns to...
It doesn't say anything about a JASO rating. Unless you can confirm that it is JASO rated MA2, then I wouldn't risk a clutch on it.
Not all that pertinent to this thread. But I have installed aftermarket CC on the older models that don't come with this feature.
The drama is strong with this one. Hopefully, a quick and agreeable solution to the problem can be arrived at.
Not usually a good idea to 'Tinker' with Spyder or Ryker alignments unless you have an extremely accurate way to get proper adjustment and alignment with the rear wheel. And BUDS to reset the...
Appears that the lions share of responses went to 'Only When Necessary' and 'Sometimes'.
Somehow, I thought the group would be more on the frisky side. But stopping to think about it. Buying an...
So, according to the dealership, you don't have a problem.
That's a trip from Frenchville, Main to San Diego, California once every 2 weeks for a full year.
I was going to say... '78,00 miles in 1 year!'. That's an average of 213+ miles each day! I would get on my Spyder today and ride to Utah just to shake your hand! Thanks Pete! You saved me the trip!
Lamonster Garage is definitely one of the Good Ones! It's a shame that they were forced to cancel their annual event this year. Was very much looking forward to seeing Lamont & Crew and all of you...
2011 RT according to his earlier posts...
I agree. Even damaged belts will run fine depending on what the damage is. Missing teeth or broken altogether is about the only 2 things that warrant replacement.
What codes are you getting?
Surf the site here for a myriad of ways to lift the Spyder. From tailgates to ATV lifts. I did my BIL's with a cheesy little floor jack and a lot of cribbing. Though I had 2 brothers and the BIL to...
Everything ages and wears out. But the drive belt on the Spyder is pretty bullet proof. Check it once in awhile. But other than this, just ride and enjoy.
