The stock muffler has quite a few chambers in it. Wouldn't be cost effective to destroy it. Cheaper to just get a cat delete pipe..

I think the OEM cat quiets the exhaust a good amount. Doesn't cost anything to try..

Simple to try. Loosen one clamp bolt and slide off the muffler. The OEM muffle is chambered, so it "likely" reduces sound more than the cat. I'm guess a exhaust/muffler shop could bend/expand a pipe...
