Thanks, Dennis. I must have picked up a couple of the wrong size washers off the floor and being such a simple fix makes me feel a bit stupid but sometimes it just takes a fresh pair of eyes. Went on...

Thanks, Dennis. I must have picked up a couple of the wrong size washers off the floor and being such a simple fix makes me feel a bit stupid but sometimes it just takes a fresh pair of eyes. Went on...
Like the video! Doesn't anyone live in NZ?
We had a shed day here yesterday, where we gather to tell lies and do work on the Spyders of those who aren't experienced in these machines. Anyway, one of our members, Adrian (you may have seen some...
I have used Grip Puppies (foam) for many years and they have never broken down. Some sellers just use a bit of refrigeration insulation which will not stand up to constant use but Grip Puppies use...
Thanks, Dennis and everyone else for your input. I think I have now tried everything that I reasonably can. I guess, for now, I'll just leave it slightly loose and check it each time before I ride as...
Dennis, sorry to keep asking you questions but can you tell me whether you now have any movement in the boards, particularly fore and aft? I have about half an inch both ways on the shifter side but...
Yes, I did exactly what you did, had to cut the bolt on the RHS and bought another one. I think that Rivco don't realise that the 2014s are different from earlier models. When you say that you...
Thanks for all the helpful replies. At the moment, I can't get under the bike to take a photo (bad back) but what is frustrating is that I can't find a drawing of the manual shift lever and where it...
Thanks for that reply. Whilst I'm not happy that you have the same issue, it's good to feel that I'm not alone!

I posted about this a while back but I'm still having some issues so I thought I'd ask for some more help. My previous issue was / is that if I tighten up the the LHS floorboard so that there is zero...
Don't forget to use thread locker - mine wanted to unscrew until I realised that Loctite (blue) was my friend.
My owner's book states that BRP's or any other blended oil is a minimum and goes on to say that you can use any synthetic oil with the standards stated. For me that means use fully synthetic.
Pre 2014 models were/are much easier to install than the 2014s. About 1/2 an hour vs about one and a half hours.
Yep, I agree. I have had no vibrations from the belt on my 14 RT at 2500km.
Very impressive...... and the price is?
There is probably a speed limit set in the ECU but I've no idea what it would be.
Does the 1330 engine have a knock detector to adjust the timing if the fuel is pre igniting? If not, be careful because knocking from too low octane can be fatal for your engine. If it does have this...
If the dealer told you this, they have told you an old husband's tale. As long as you are using a motorcycle oil, fully synthetic will have no effect on the wet clutch but it will provide superior...
I had far too many issues with my 2011 RT, so I traded it on my 2014 RT. It's probably tempting fate to say this but I'm really liking the 2014.
My thoughts exactly. Travelling at a steady speed requires a certain amount of energy, ECO mode or not, so I don't see an advantage in using ECO while cruising on a highway. Some say that doing this...
My old arse is quite happy with the stock seat and an AirHawk (so far - only about 100km!)

OK, thanks again to all for the input. I now know what happened, I slightly overtightened the bolt that holds the floorboard on the LHS; it goes through the gear change lever and wasn't letting the...
OK, looks like this thread can finish now with me eating humble pie. I've just heard from the dealer service manager who says that the issue is with the heel/toe gear lever which is part of the...
No, this didn't occur before the floorboards were fitted but neither did it occur after they were fitted - until about 300km into the first long ride. The only ride before that was a short one back...
Should have said, it's a manual. Oil level is fine. The more I think about this, the more I lean towards my own work in fitting the floorboards. If I have overtightened the bolt on the LHS it may not...
No, I don't think I'm shifting down too quickly, it just gets down to a certain gear and refuses to go down any further and it could be any gear where the refusal happens. I sometimes get an "E" when...
My new RT started giving me problems at about 300km into its first decent ride. Pulled off the highway for a break and went to change down as I entered the service station, went down to 5th gear but...
Well, the new Timeless Black '14 RT SM6 (I call it "Funnelweb" after a deadly black spider that lives in these parts :ani29: :yikes:) now sports a pair of Rivco floorboards complete with heel/toe...
Toledo East Honda.
My SM6is giving a short E message when going into reverse and out of reverse. I think this is due to the actuator being a bit slow moving across, but it could be the gear position indicator in the...
