Hi and lo beam are the same bulb. Low beam is activated by a shutter, hi beam raises the shutter.

The K&N filter indexes with the top cover in one position only and it's not easy to find. Gues they were trying to be clever when there was no need. I hate the design.

Is it possible that you are blipping the throttle when downshifting? Doing so confuses the bike. It does not know if you are downshifting to accelerate or slow down.
