Would have to take front fenders off,mine is 62" min. No problem to secure it if you have the tiedown track in your trailer.

Have the Madstad on my f3s and my V storm, have been able to get smooth air on both, I am pleased with their products.

Could you get access thru your attic?

If it cools when its moving at speed, but gets hot while at idle, it is likely an airflow issue not a thermostat. My first thought would also be dirty or clogged fins as others have mentioned.
