i installed led bulbs and after everything buttoned up tried the dimmer function, i can hear the shutters click but the lights stay on dim i can see it try but it doesn't make it. i have seen posts of this problem here but unable to locate it now HELP haha if you can, thanks Ray
Ray try removing the cover and see if the shutter functions with the cover off. You may need to cut a small notch in the cover so you can leave the ballast out of the covered assembly. Having all of the wires and ballast inside the cover can cause the shutter to stick.
:agree: …. Depending on who made the LED unit …. if you had to stuff wires into the headlight ( that was not made for all those wires ) one or more of them may be preventing the shutter from functioning …. It ia actually a fairly common issue and easily fixed ….. Mike :ohyea:Quote:

I replaced headlights to LED but after one day the HI Beam 20 amp fuse was blown. Found the left headlight shutter not working. Found a shorted transistor on the little circuit board in the headlight assembly.Hope I don't have to buy the whole headlight assembly for one shorted transistor.
Replaced the transistor -Now the fuse stays good but no shutter action on that headlight. Swapped the little circuit board between the left and right headlight and the snag stays on the same side. Guess the shutter mechanism is fu fued. Guess I'll ride with one hi beam if I need it. At least I can wink at the one eyed vehicles on the road.
When I installed LED headlights I left the back cover off, cable tied the ballast on the side and everything is still clean and happy.
