My seat won't stay up when getting gas or checking oil. I don't see anything to latch or hold it up?
Help please.

There is no latch, or "prop rod" on a 2020 model. The seat is, or should be, held up by a single pressurized gas shock mounted to a plastic pin on the left side hinge arm. Raise your seat, inspect that connection to see if the pin broke off or the shock has lost pressure.
If your still under warranty, check with your dealer to see if a worn shock is considered "normal wear & tear & you foot the bill, or if BRP will replace it FOC.
If you get that shock in your hand, then you can go to napa if you have them around you or go to https://www.mcmaster.com They will have what you need
When riding my 2021 in rain the seat will not stay up on its own but once the seat dries out good it will again hold the seat up. My point is the OEM strut is barely stout enough to hold up the seat, doesn’t seem to be able to support any additional weight at all.
If the shock is still attached, you may need to replace the shock with a stronger weight spec (30lb). If the seat is soaked (or you have a cover/pad) the added weight may be the problem.

:coffee: l just figured it out (seat strut).
Safety Issue is what came to mind.
Then I could be totally wrong.
1. Please be sure that you have nothing on your Spyder Seat.
2. Also it must be completely dry.
3. Then you should be able to get the Seat to stay up with the OEM Strut.
4. If not, then replace the Seat Strut.
Thanks and I hope you have a Sunny Day. .....
,And don't open it on the fourth Wednesday of the month!!!:roflblack:
A little stick, or dowel, of the right length to suit works fine. Lay in underneath the seat afterwards.
Here is the real fix. 100% total comfort PLUS a gas door. Never lift the seat again to fill the fuel tank. True it is more costly than that cheezy arm thing.

I just looked through K80's advice on strut replacements; IMO, not sure anyone could do better and it would be my guide to replacing that strut.
