Making a day trip to the NC mountains on 5/14

I am looking at doing a day trip from the Raleigh area to the NC mountains and back. We will be taking 421 up towards the Boone area. We will jump on the BRP and take that south to Little Switzerland. While there, we will be riding the Diamondback (226A). Then we will jump on 221 and make our way down to Marion. After a late lunch, we will jump onto I-40 and head back home. It should be about 475 miles, but loads of fun. We usually do this in the fall, but decided to make it earlier this year since we will be in the area for the rally in Maggie Valley during October anyway.
