Looking forward to it Pete.

Those dates work for us and I've marked our calendar. Looking forward to meeting you in person. Once you get more information, let's get this posted on the Spyder Ryders Mojave Desert FB page. Who's sponsoring the ryde?
Just got back from that area. Spent 3 days in the HIE in Kanab.
Did the north rim, Page & Glen Canyon dam, Lees Ferry, Marble Canyon & a dozen other wonderful places.
Ate in Houston's for the 3 nights. They catered to my gluten free needs & very reasonable prices.
It was our last visit to the beautiful western states as we are both very close to 80 & getting more senile by the day. The chances of a catastrophic hospital visit & subsequent bankruptcy loom large. We have managed a 3 - 4 week trip a year for 28 years so can't complain.
We covered 5000 miles in our 20 day visit this time. Not too shabby for a couple of old farts.
Not on my Spyder though, in a Hertz Toyota Highlander.
I hope you all have great weather & soak in the fantastic scenery.
Glad your still having fun at your age. I am approaching 80 myself and aim to squeeze the last drop of fun I can while still able. Camille and I did Bryce, Hwy 12 to Torrey, Moab, Grand Junction and Durango this Summer. Life does not end at 80 my friend. You have a lot more to look forward to. Talk about looking forward with a positive attitude, my Uncle Bill got married for the first time at 97 to a lady who was 82. (they had lived together for 25 years and he told me he thought the time was right) Go Figure!

Pete, did you post this on the wrong page? Should it be on SkiDoo Lovers?

There are four possible routes in the 3 days. Check them out and let me know how this is working for you.
I am very interested in attending. I will have to see how my schedule stacks up and see if I can roll down.... Long trip for me! But want to head that way.
What's the weather up there that time of year?
Chilly but doable Bob. If you delay your riding a bit in the morning and don't leave at "O'thirty" in the morning it should be OK. Coldest ride would be Bryce
Canyon due to the higher elevation. Temp there @ 7:30 this morning is 34* and high is 54* today. Heated gear or "Long John's" would be my
recommendation for Kanab.

Rooms booked,hope I can actually make it. I love that area but have never actually traveled it in the late fall,early winter. i am trying to get my wife and brother in law to come down with me.
Well I just found out I have Grand kids coming that weekend. I guess I won't make it afterall.Sorry.
We are 10 days out and the forecast is pretty much as I expected; cold at night, 40-50 during the day, no precipitation.
So... Is the thing still happening? Cold weather and some snow out that way. Just wondering if I should head that way or not?
If dry, we are in. We will await your weather decision. Hoping this is a go!
Everyone who has registered for the Kanab Ryde-In has received an email today with all necessary info.
If you didn't get an email, then I don't have you as registered, so if you plan to attend, please PM me with the following information as soon as possible;
Your real name, email address and cell #
Co-rider (if any) name, email address and cell#
The model and color of your bike(s)
This event was an experiment and as with many experiments, it didn't go so well but I learned a few things.
It didn't go well because the weather suddenly turned NASTY and I had to concede defeat and cancel it completely this morning.
What I learned is that;
1. There are some die-hard riders that are as crazy as I am.
2. This location is a magnet for serious riders, who will travel long distances to experience the riding here
3. The weather is always going to be a factor when the riding is in the shoulder months at altitude
4. It's worth trying it again - probably in April 2019
Thanks for trying! This weather this is really trying this year. I'm gonna see if I can get outta here later next week and just trailer to Southern NM or AZ and ride on from there. I am determined to get that damn PCH ride in this winter!
Sorry to hear about the weather. I had foot surgery 10 days ago and cannot walk on it for another 2 weeks so the Kanab trip was not in the cards for me this time. I am good to go in April. Will watch for the reincarnation of your get together and look forward to putting (some of) :) your faces and names together.
Well shoot Pete, at least you gave it the "old college try". The timing was just not good due to weather but mostly the time of year, the altitude and the cold weather. Thanks for trying. We are even expecting Snow here in the Old Pueblo tonight and Saturday.

When I saw the weather I cancelled my room reservation and then I saw this. Looking forward to Yuma.
