When the RT line-up was introduced in 2010: folks were talking about them in here like crazy!
"What do you like?"
"What don't you like?"
What needs to be changed?"
For years: the answers were pretty consistent...
They needed:
More power
More range
More gears
More charging capacity
And folks complained about:
High amounts of heat on the rider's right foot
High rpm levels at cruising speeds. (4,000 rpm at 55 mph, and 5,000 at 70 mph)
There were also issues with toasted clutch plates due to NOT keeping the revs high enough. nojoke
In 2014: BRP proved that they were listening to us!
We got the 1330 triple: 15% more horsepower, and 20% more torque
A 1200 watt alternator replaced the 650 watt magneto
Twin radiators were mounted more forward, and would blow air AWAY from the rider when stopped
The clutch engagement system went to a hydraulic design that solidly locks up at 1800 rpm
The six speed transmissions dropped the operating rpm levels by wll over 1000 rpm
The bikes were faster, ran cooler, got way better fuel mileage, and were much more relaxing to ride!
So while the 998 bikes lit the fires: the 1330 bikes stoked them up to a white hot level!
