I have heard of others shifting a manual without the clutch. Never tried it on my 08 SM5.
Others will come on with more information.
just wanted to know if i can start it that way :banghead:
we are talking about push starting the manual spyder... Never done it as I have a jump starter I carry with me but if needed I could. Once you get to speed popping the clutch will allow the system to start . Best get more speed and start in 2nd as you may just lock up the rear wheel in 1st...
Theoretically it will work. You'll need enough juice in the battery to get the gauges to go through their boot sequence. And the Spyder doesn't do well on a low battery so that might also be a hurdle even if you can get it to turn over.
Then you have to deal with the fact that it doesn't take much to break the rear wheel loose. So getting enough traction to turn the engine over may also be problematic.
Then you will find there is quite a bit of drag on the transmission even though you've got the clutch lever pulled in. Hard to build speed that way.
I'd try it in 2nd gear if I were going to do it. But frankly. I think you're way ahead to keep the battery charged and crank it with the starter. I certainly would not count on being able to bump start the Spyder.
Let us know how it goes.
